Although overdoses are declining nationally, they're still a huge problem here in Chaves County and in all of New Mexico. Please consider coming out to this event as it honors the folks who have died. It's all about reducing the stigma of addiction so more folks will seek the help they need.
Help us remember and honor the lives behind the numbers.
As part of the Overdose Awareness Vigil, the Chaves County Health Council will recognize loved ones whose lives were lost to overdose or poisoning.
Families and friends are invited to submit:
A clear photo of their loved one
Their full name
Their forever age—the age they were when they passed
Please email submissions to [email protected] by August 21, 2026, so they can be included in the remembrance display.
Every person was someone’s child, parent, sibling, spouse, friend, or neighbor. Every life mattered, and every story deserves to be remembered.
Join us for the Overdose Awareness Vigil:
August 31, 2026 | 6:00–8:00 PM
