One of the plants I see growing all over the homestead is cinquefoil (Potentilla spp.).

Often overlooked as just another little w**d, cinquefoil has a long history of use in traditional herbalism. Its astringent nature has made it a valued herb for supporting digestion, soothing tissues, and helping to tone and tighten when things are feeling a little too loose.

I also love its cheerful yellow flowers and edible leaves, which can be added to salads as a wild green. And, of course, it’s one of my favorite flowers to press for botanical art and crafts.

The next time you’re out in your yard or garden, take a closer look at the plants growing at your feet. You might discover an old herbal ally hiding in plain sight.

While I happily accept dollars, I still believe there’s something special about exchanging goods, skills, and services within a community.

Over the years, I’ve traded herbal products, classes and services for everything from honey and produce to wellness services and handmade goods—and honestly, some of my favorite exchanges have come through barter.

What you don’t see is the restocking, loading, hauling tables, carrying boxes, arranging products, and re-arranging them again because apparently I never get it right the first time. 😂

By the time the booth is ready, I’ve usually gotten my workout for the day.

Still, there’s something satisfying about watching an empty patch of grass turn into a little herbal shop for the day.

I finally linked the merch shop to my website for all my fellow:

Honestly these designs feel less like merch and more like wearable personality traits at this point. 😆

I’m all set up at Biscuits & Brews until 5 PM today with herbal remedies, botanical body care, teas, tinctures, salves, plants, and more from the Homestead. Come sip some brews, grab a biscuit, and shop all the amazing local vendors set up around the farm.
