Interstitial Cystitis
Interstitial cystitis (IC), or inflammation of the lining of the urinary bladder, can be a disabling condition experienced more frequently by women than men. It is characterized by bladder pressure, urinary tract infection (UTI) symptoms with negative UTI testing, pelvic pain, and a frequent/urgent need to urinate. IC is notoriously difficult to treat, with many patients being given the only option of treatment with pain medications which have their own side effects.
Fusion Wellness has successfully treated patients with this condition using a variation of the O-Shot procedure. Using the patient’s own platelets obtained from a simple blood draw, processing them in a specialized centrifuge, and then performing ultrasound guided injections; we can help reverse this disabling condition.
During a follow-up procedure this week, a patient and husband that had the initial procedure performed in 2022, reported 9 out of 10 pain and disruption to normal life. After the initial procedure in 2022, symptoms returned to normal (0 to 1/10) and remained that way for several years; only recently starting to be noticeable at a very low level. Since we were treating the patient for urinary incontinence, she asked us to repeat the previous treatment for IC.
