Hand Therapy Certification Commission

Hand Therapy Certification Commission The Hand Therapy Certification Commission (HTCC) is a not-for-profit corporation which sponsors a voluntary credential in Hand Therapy for OTs and PTs.

A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is an occupational therapist or physical therapist who has a minimum of five years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy. In addition, the Certified Hand Therapist has successfully passed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper quarter rehabilitation. Because of changes in the professio

n, every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years.

Studying for the Hand Therapy Certification Exam? Don’t do it alone.

Candidates who study in groups often perform better, and it makes sense. Study groups create space to share strengths, work through challenges, and turn difficult concepts into clear understanding through discussion. Plus, having support along the way makes the process a whole lot more manageable.

A few tips to get started:
• Keep your group small (3–6 people works best)
• Set clear expectations for meeting times and responsibilities
• Divide up key articles and share summaries
• Surround yourself with others committed to the same goal

Looking for a group? Visit htcc.org to find study group listings and get connected.
