Domestic Violence Awareness Month | Part 3: Real-World Experience

Earlier this week, we discussed how trauma-related stress and activation can make it difficult to organize thoughts and answer questions.

Today, MaryAnn shares her experience using Bi-Tapp while testifying in court.

Knowing that she would be facing questions that would bring up traumatic memories during the trial, she planned ahead and brought her tappers with her.

Because Bi-Tapp is small, quiet, and discreet, MaryAnn was able to hold the tappers in her hands while testifying without disrupting the proceedings.

She shares how having a regulation resource available while testifying helped her communicate what she needed to say.

Regulation supports participation in moments that matter most.

Supporting survivors. Supporting those who support them.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month | Part 3

In this short clip, I ask Kasidy, a forensic interviewer, if she has encountered survivors who struggle to answer questions because of trauma-related stress and activation.

When someone is in a heighten state, it can become much harder to organize thoughts, process information, and respond to questions.

Whether someone is participating in a forensic interview or testifying in court, having access to an in-the-moment regulation resource can be valuable.

Bi-Tapp provides gentle, alternating bilateral tapping that individuals can receive while being interviewed or, with appropriate court approval, while testifying.

Regulation help helps you navigate high-stress situations.

Supporting Survivors. Supporting those who support them.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month | Part 2

As a trauma therapist, I've seen survivors struggle to move forward—not because they didn't want help, but because the process itself felt overwhelming.

Participating in a forensic interview, filing a protective order, or facing the person who harmed them in court can be incredibly difficult.

When someone is experiencing heightened stress, it can affect their ability to process information, communicate, and make decisions.

This is why access to in-the-moment regulation matters.

Bi-Tapp provides gentle, alternating bilateral tapping through two devices someone can hold or wear. The tappers do the tapping for them, requiring very little active effort.

As someone becomes more regulated, it may become easier to consider their options and decide for themselves how they want to proceed.

Regulation isn't the end goal. It's what regulation allows someone to do next.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Kasidy, a forensic interviewer with the Washington County Attorney’s Office, shares what she observed when a survivor used Bi-Tapp during a difficult interview.

As the interview progressed, Kasidy observed the survivor visibly calm down and provide a clear disclosure. The survivor later shared that she felt much better.

When someone is highly activated following trauma, it can be difficult to concentrate, process information, and communicate clearly. Having access to an in-the-moment regulation resource can provide valuable support during these difficult moments.

Supporting survivors. Supporting those who support them.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Over the years, we have had the opportunity to work with programs and professionals who support survivors of domestic violence. We have seen the tappers used across the continuum of care—from emergency room visits and difficult interviews to protect protective orders, court preparation, and even testifying.

We are also seeing the tappers used by advocates, and other professionals who support individuals through incredibly difficult circumstances.

Throughout October, we'll be sharing research and other real-world stories about how the tappers are being used by both survivors and the professionals who support them.

Supporting survivors. Supporting those who support them.

Exhausted—but still can’t sleep?

Being tired doesn’t always mean your nervous system is ready for sleep. You can be physically exhausted while still carrying the stress and activation from your day.

Instead of waiting until you’re ready to go to bed, look for opportunities to help your nervous system settle as you wind down.

Better sleep may begin with how you transitioned toward rest.

Do you wake up at 2 or 3 AM and struggle to get back to sleep?

Sometimes falling asleep isn’t the problem. It’s getting back to sleep after you wake up in the middle of the night.

You can’t force yourself back to sleep, but you can help your nervous system settle back down so you can return to rest.

Calm your nervous system. Return to rest.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day

As a trauma therapist for over 30 years, I have seen the impact su***de has on individuals, families, and entire communities.

At Bi-Tapp, we believe support matters across the continuum— prevention, intervention, and post-prevention. Regulation resources are one part of a much larger network of connection, professional care, crisis support, and community response.

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline.

You don’t have to wait for a crisis to reach out for support.

Better sleep may start before your workday or shift ends.

If you work in a high-stress profession, stress and activation can accumulate throughout the day. Instead of waiting until bedtime to focus on recovery, look for opportunities to regulate as you go.

Bi-Tapp provides passive regulation, so you can use the tappers while doing paperwork, during a stressful call, when you’re feeling overwhelmed , or as you transition home—without having to stop what you’re doing.

Better recovery during the day. Better sleep at night.

We had the opportunity to hand-deliver 19 Bi-Tapp kits to the SUU Health and Wellness Center today!🎉

SUU has been helping students access the tappers when they’re in crisis, struggling with anxiety or sleep, preparing for an exam, taking an exam, or giving a presentation.

The Health and Wellness Center at Southern Utah University continues to find ways to make the tappers accessible to students across campus.

Great job, Madi! We love what you’re doing for SUU Students. 💚
