Let’s Talk - Red Flags Around the Eyes

Skin cancer can develop on the delicate skin around the eyes, and early changes shouldn’t be ignored. Keep an eye out for:

New or growing lesions - especially a spot that changes in size, shape, or appearance
Bleeding or crusting - particularly when there’s no obvious reason
A divot or indentation - changes in the skin’s texture or contour can be a warning sign
New or prominent blood vessels around a lesion
A history of significant sun exposure - cumulative UV exposure increases skin cancer risk

If you notice a spot around your eyes that is new, changing, bleeding, or simply doesn’t look right, call us for an evaluation. Your health matters.

What are we SEEING at our Urgent Eye Care Clinic?

We commonly see a little bit of everything - and some conditions are especially typical with the change in seasons:

Dry, irritated eyes (often allergy-related)
Styes, itchiness & redness
Corneal erosions - which can sometimes flare with seasonal changes
Retinal detachments - flashes of light and seeing “stars” can be EMERGENCIES. Prompt evaluation and treatment can help protect vision.
Work-related eye injuries
Foreign objects in the eye
Pink eye & eye discharge
Eyelid dermatitis & irritation
