Bringing Back a Beloved Tradition at Corewell Health Niles Hospital!

Sometimes, it’s the simplest gestures that make the biggest difference.

The beloved Snack Trolley is back at Corewell Health Niles Hospital! Once a popular service for team members, the trolley was paused due to staffing challenges and later discontinued following the pandemic.

Thanks to the dedication and persistence of Volunteer Coordinator Mariah Ferraro, who partnered with Nutrition Services to reestablish the role, this meaningful volunteer opportunity has come full circle. After months of recruitment efforts, Mariah found the perfect volunteer who was eager to help bring snacks, smiles and a little extra support to our hardworking team members.

The Snack Trolley will now make its rounds Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing a convenient pick-me-up for caregivers who may not have the opportunity to step away during a busy shift.

A special shoutout to Mariah Ferraro for championing this initiative and to the volunteer who is helping make it a reality. Together, they are showing how acts of service, no matter how small, can have a meaningful impact on the well-being of our healthcare teams.

At Corewell Health Foundation Southwest Michigan, we know healing extends beyond medical care.

We are incredibly grateful to Board Chair, Dana Wales, for donating a piano that now resides near the Peace Garden at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital St. Joseph. This beautiful addition provides a space where music can calm, comfort, and inspire everyone who passes by.

In the accompanying video, volunteer Albert Pham showcases the piano's impact through his heartfelt performance, reminding us of the powerful role music plays in promoting well-being and creating moments of peace.

Thank you to Dana and Albert for helping make our hospital environment even more welcoming and healing for our community.
