I went into medicine because I find science, anatomy, & the human body absolutely amazing! I purposefully chose medicine so as to avoid sitting at a desk in front of a computer all day….. in Biology from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) in 1992, and received my Medical Doctorate degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in 1996. My love of anatomy led me to match in a categoric

al (5 year) general surgery residency at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center, where I completed my intern year. I then completed two years of pediatric surgery research in Columbus, OH, planning to combine my love of children & surgery and become a pediatric surgeon. It was during those 2 years I decided I very much enjoyed interacting with children when awake – vs anesthetized on the operating table – & rematched at University of Minnesota, where I completed my Pediatric residency in 2002. I’ve been a practicing pediatrician in the Twin Cities metro area ever since!

Vaccines work. Vaccines SAVE LIVES.

A recent study in Pediatrics found that influenza vaccination reduced the risk of death from flu among U.S. kids and teens in recent years. The overall vaccine effectiveness against death from flu was 80% from August 2016 through July 2025.

The AAP recommends kids get the flu vaccine each year, starting at 6 months of age, to provide them with the strongest protect against severe illness. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4q7R5xn

Exactly this!!! Stop distracting from the ACTUAL PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUES currently reeking havoc in our country!
Especially MEASLES - which is a VACCINE PREVENTABLE DISEASE now harming thousands of children!

I’m not asking whether people agree or disagree with Dr. Fauci.

I’m asking why has this become the priority when we have urgent public health problems that need attention today.

Measles outbreaks. The largest Cyclospora outbreak in U.S. history. Millions at risk of losing health insurance.

Reasonable people can disagree about the past, but we also have to ask whether we’re focusing enough on the public health challenges that are affecting people right now.

The world needs more like you. ❤️

I made this cookie in April 2020 of a true American hero - it’s wild how people went from appreciation to down-right demonization of Dr. Fauci (and pretty much all healthcare workers). This man saved countless lives not only during the pandemic, but throughout his entire career. He quite literally wrote the book on medicine (Harrison’s, to be exact) and somehow folks who only write social media comments and lack basic science literacy believe they know more about immunology and infectious disease. I am hopeful that someday our country once again values science and expertise, but until then, keep fighting the good fight, friends - the world still needs us ❤️‍🩹
