For Janice, becoming a grandmother changed everything.

"I simply did not want to miss any part of the experience of being 'Nana.' I really wanted to hear every word they said. When I was first activated I felt like I was standing on a subway platform with all kinds of noises just washing over me. However, even on the drive home I realized I could hear my husband speaking to me. He was driving on my left, the ear that had just been implanted. We hadn't talked in the car in quite some time. Overall, my cochlear implant has been a vast improvement."
