August was a busy month for Smith EMS, and we’re so proud of the work our team put in across events throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin.

🏥 697 hours of medical coverage
🚑 23 medics on the sidelines
🏟️ 6 unique events

From tournament weekends to packed game days, our medics stayed visible, engaged, and ready to respond when athletes needed them.

Meet the Medic | Gavin

This is Gavin, one of our EMTs covering sporting events across Minnesota.

One of Gavin’s favorite parts of working with Smith EMS is the flexibility the job provides while still giving him the opportunity to help those in need.

When he’s not covering events, Gavin enjoys spending time with his two boxers and his son. For him, the best part of the job is being able to serve others while still having time for the people who matter most.

How does covering Ultimate Frisbee as an EMT differ from other sports? 🥏⚡

Ultimate Frisbee is all about speed, quick cuts, and big layouts. With so much sprinting and jumping, we see our fair share of muscle strains, sprains, and the occasional hard landing.

It's a fun sport to cover because there's never a dull moment.

In July 2018, a 16-year-old athlete collapsed from cardiac arrest during wind sprints at a football camp. The worst part? No one was prepared for how to handle it.

Busy weekend? We were ready for it. đźš‘

From August 7–9, Smith EMS was all over the Twin Cities and into Wisconsin supporting athletes, coaches, and event staff at multiple sporting events and venues.

Over the weekend, our team:
• Worked 324 total hours ⛑️
• Helped 60+ patients 🩹
• Covered 12 venues 🚑

Being on-site is just the start. Our medics stay visible, engaged, and ready when needed.
