You know what I ❤️❤️ about being a small business owner?

Flexibility. Freedom. Control of my time.

Had a wonderful mobile appointment with a new client this morning. We spent as much time as we needed talking. There was no time pressure. There was no pressure to bill for certain interventions. We were just able to flow through the eval and address what best serves her.

Then I came home to my husband and sweet baby….and an afternoon cup of coffee because mama’s tired.

Flexibility, freedom, and the opportunity to provide super quality care 🤌

….and yes, I do still take mobile appointments within the Tampa Bay Area. Secrets out 😉

Any other small (therapy) business owners out there? Share your info below so the people know!!

Over here filming some workouts and realized two things:

1. Providing YOU guys with workouts makes me actually workout.
2. I enjoyed it.

So here’s my question...anyone interested in me doing LIVE home workouts on here? Of course they’d be vestibular/migraine conscious workouts. I’d then save the workouts to my IGTV if you can’t join live.

Just spit balling and trying to figure out how to serve you all best! If you’re in, drop a 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ below!!

I usually explain it as “desensitizing your brain”. Idk if that’s scientifically correct, but it makes sense to me. My patients seem to agree. 🤷🏼‍♀️

These exercises are usually the first line of defense with my migraine/VM clients. Habituation exercises seem to calm down symptoms (dizziness) AND give clients some hope that things can get better 😍

Then I hit them with VOR exercises and they’re all 🤬🤯🤮

I kid....kinda

Happy Sunday friends! I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend and aren’t feeling the Sunday blues too badly. I worked my PRN position on Saturday, so now I’m all thrown off. No groceries, a very hypothetical meal plan, and a laundry mountain that will likely never get folded (serious). Not the best way to start the week, but whateves. Thanks for hearing my complaints 😂😂

Anyhoo, anyone here have vertigo that was diagnosed as BPPV, but did not improve with an EPLEY (or similar maneuver)?? There’s a good chance it’s not BPPV...and if you know me by now, you know where I’m going with this...MIGRAINE!! (See, I’m predictable)

I’ll talk more about this topic this week, but for now I’ll leave you with this:

🔘 BPPV vertigo fatigues...meaning it will go away within a couple seconds-minutes until you put your head back into the provoking position
🔘 If someone were to watch your eyes, they would NOT be moving vertically (up and down), they would move in a torsional direction or horizontally

Soooo if the vertigo sticks around and your eyes bounce up and down when in the provoking positions, then you’re likely dealing with Migraine 🧠

Thanks for coming to my Tedtalk...see ya tomorrow ✌🏼

I listened (still listening) to an amazing podcast this AM on She interviewed Khalil Rafati. It’s not my first time hearing him interviewed, and it moves me every time. He has a redemption story after cleaning himself up from addiction and then creating a couple companies that truly serve others, and writing a couple books that’s also serve others. I digress.....

He was discussing what it takes to make a change, or take control of your life. It takes one day. Just focus on ONE DAY at a time. Don’t get bogged down by the big picture. Just make one change, for one day, and then try that again the next day.

It’s not a novel idea, but it’s always helpful to hear things really simplified. I try to equip my patients to be in control of their health. I hope to encourage and equip YOU to take control of your health.

For one day, if there’s something you know you need to change to improve your wellbeing, do it. For one day. Then the next day, try again.

Now, who wants the link to the podcast?? Give me a ✋ ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Hi friends 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼

We’ve got a few new faces on here, so I thought I’d (re)introduce myself!!

I’m Sara and I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy. I specialize in vestibular rehab and have a special interest in treating Migraine patients. This little practice has been a dream of mine for about three years, and I’m very happy to be able to treat and serve my clients with (almost) total freedom 👊🏼 My mission is to equip my clients to be able to help themselves and to be in CONTROL of their health....while recognizing that looks COMPLETELY different for everybody.

I split my time between treating my clients in their home, creating programs for this community, taking care of my kiddos (3 and 8 months), and wondering why my house doesn’t clean itself 🤔

I’m here to learn, support, and contribute in any way that I can. Currently, I have a program to teach you how to SAFELY use exercise as a treatment for your Migraine. The link is in my bio ☝🏼☝🏼 My question for you??? What kind of content would be valuable and helpful for YOU?! Comment below and let me know! ✌🏼

Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t kill their husbands.
- Elle Woods

But for real, does this then suggest that people with migraines have a more difficult time feeling happy? Hmmm. We should unpack this together another time.

For now, just know that even though your endorphins levels are lower to begin with, regular exercise increases those levels. The more you exercise, the longer your endorphin levels remain elevated, the happier you are. I’m actually considering this to be food for thought for EVERYONE in 2020 🥴

I may still have to wake up 2-3x to feed Dean, but between those feeds I SLEPT. I couldn’t tell you the last time I SLEPT. You know what I’m talking about....dead to the world sleep. I feel refreshed 🌱

Why share? Because more sleep = less migraines. Better sleep = less migraines. Less migraines = more living. Plus, it’s all natural and pleasing to the gut, which is V important. Supplements can be tough sometimes, ruthorganics is legit.

10/10 Recommend 👍🏼
