Happy pride month y'all! As always, we are safe allies. Reach out if you need support! ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธWe love and support our LGBTQIA+ and aim to be an oasis in a desert of hate and ignorance. And we will fight to protect that through protest in the various forms it's needed. We proudly open our doors to trans women so if you know of anyone that is looking for a safe space to recover please send them our way. The first phone call we got from a trans woman looking for a bed, their mother reminded me that initially we had said no. We temporarily had a moment of insanity which was really just based in, though I hate to admit it, fear and some level of ignorance. We quickly called the individual back. She had relayed to us that she had called every women's sober living in the state and was turned away. This amazing person is no longer with us, but we honor her as our first unicorn and are so lucky to have known her for the time we did. She is missed dearly by so many in this community. She brought so much joy and compassion, and wisdom to the house. Please choose love y'all. The world is a scary place for many right now. May anyone that comes to our door find shelter from the storm. โบ๏ธ ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
As we celebrate the resiliency, joy, and profoundness of our beloved LGBTQIA+ community this Pride Month, we're working against the violence that steals the lives of our loved ones, harmful rhetoric, and stripping away of LGBTQIA+ protections to health care rights.
Harm reduction, a movement started by and for LGBTQIA+ communities across the U.S. in response to the government's lack of care for people dying of AIDS, is anchored โ and we refuse to move. Pride Month, just like LGBTQIA+ ancestors, elders, and younger folks, is eternal.
