The vagus nerve is the body’s master control cable, connecting your brain to almost all major organs. When it disorders or misfires, the "internet of the body" gets scrambled, causing a mix of seemingly unrelated symptoms like acid reflux, heart rate changes, difficulty swallowing, dizziness, and chronic anxiety.
Because this nerve acts as a massive two-way information highway, dysfunction can manifest in distinct, easy-to-spot ways depending on which organ is affected:
🗣️ Voice and Throat Hoarseness: A weak, breathy voice or a chronic need to clear your throat. Swallowing trouble: Food feeling stuck or coughing/gagging while trying to eat. Loss of gag reflex: The protective reflex at the back of your throat may disappear.
🫀 Heart and Blood Pressure Racing or slow heartbeats: Unexplained heart palpitations or arrhythmias. Dizziness/Fainting: Sudden, unexplained drops in blood pressure, also known as vasovagal syncope, which can make you feel lightheaded.
🍔 Digestion Bloating and Fullness: Feeling uncomfortably full very quickly after eating a normal portion. Acid Reflux: A malfunctioning vagus nerve can stop your digestive tract from pushing food downward, resulting in severe GERD and nausea.
🧠 Mind and Body (Stress System)Chronic Inflammation: The vagus nerve acts like a brake on your body's inflammatory response. When it malfunctions, you are more prone to chronic systemic inflammation, which is linked to anxiety, depression, and autoimmune diseases.
With NST - Neuro-Fascial Strain Therapy we remove the restrictions calming the vagus nerve.
