There isn’t just one way to perform submental liposuction.
A question I hear frequently is, “Will I be awake during the procedure?” The answer depends on your preferences and comfort level.
Submental liposuction can typically be performed using:
• Local anesthesia
• Local anesthesia with oral sedation
• IV sedation
• General anesthesia
The right choice depends on several factors, including your anxiety level, treatment plan, medical history, and what kind of experience you’re looking for. Some patients prefer to be completely awake. Others feel more comfortable with sedation. Neither choice is right or wrong.
My job is to help you understand your options and develop a surgical plan that prioritizes both safety and comfort. The procedure itself may be similar, but the experience can be tailored to fit the individual patient.
If you’re considering submental liposuction, I’d be happy to walk you through the process and discuss which anesthesia option may be best for you.
