It’s Official — The Optical Shop Has Closed Its Doors 🤍

Last week, we turned in the keys.

After so many years of serving this community, helping families see clearly, celebrating milestones, adjusting frames, sharing hugs, and building relationships that felt more like family — this chapter has officially come to a close.

To every single patient who trusted us with your eye care…
To every family who came back year after year…
To everyone who stopped in during our final week just to say goodbye…

This wasn’t just a business. It was relationships. It was community. It was generations of families. It was laughter behind the desk, busy exam days, and conversations that went far beyond glasses and prescriptions.

The movers came this morning and successfully moved all of our large frame board cabinets and desks out of the shop and over to consignment.

Huge thank-you to Short Moves Inc. for being professional, careful, and efficient. If anyone local is looking for a reliable moving company, we highly recommend them!

Our remaining fixtures will now be available at Consignment House , where they’ll get a second life in a new space.

This past week, Anita and Alivia were here every day, opening the doors one last time just to see familiar faces, share hugs, and spend time with the community that has meant so much to us over the years.

Anita would like to sincerely thank every single person who stopped by — whether it was to say hello, share a memory, purchase glasses, or take home a piece of décor. Your kindness, support, and presence during this final chapter meant more than we can truly put into words.

We’ve received a lot of questions over the past few days, and this one has come up more than anything else. We want to make sure everyone has the correct information:

📁 Medical Records
All of your medical records remain with BayCare. They are secure and not being moved. You can request them at any time by calling (727) 824-7134.

👓 Prescription Records
Your optical prescription records belong to The Optical Shop, and we will continue to hold them. If these records are ever transferred to another local optical, we will notify patients.

If you need a copy of your prescription in the meantime, feel free to send us a private message. I can connect you with Anita, our Optical Manager, who will be happy to help you obtain your prescriptions.

Dr. Kuplicki was not a BayCare physician. He was employed through The Optical Shop but is no longer affiliated with us. No medical or prescription records were transferred to Dr. Kuplicki.

We appreciate your patience during this transition and apologize for any confusion.

This first picture just made us way too sad! Anita and Alivia have been working all week to get things ready for you to come in ONE MORE TIME!

We will be open Monday (1/12) - Friday (1/16) from 9am-1pm. All remaining frames (except Maui Jim and Costa) will be 70% off. All of our display decor is for sale. Everything is $1-$10 on the tables. Everything must go!!
