Six questions worth taking to your next appointment.

1. How long should I expect these side effects to last?
2. What do I do if I can't tolerate the next dose increase?
3. Should I be doing anything about the constipation?
4. Which symptoms mean I should call you right away?
5. How will we know it's working, and when?
6. What's the plan if I stop — or need to stop?

Appointments are short. Walking in with the questions written down changes what you walk out with.

Eating when your stomach empties slower than it used to.

None of this is a diet. It's just what tends to sit better when food is moving slowly:

→ Smaller portions, more often
→ Eat slowly — the "full" signal arrives late, and it arrives hard
→ Stop at the first sign of full, not at the plate being empty
→ Go easy on very greasy or very heavy meals
→ Don't lie down right after eating
→ Sip fluids through the day instead of drinking a lot with the meal

If food consistently isn't going down or comes back up, that's a doctor conversation, not a habit to fix.

Your dose goes up this week. Here's what usually happens.

Doses are increased gradually on purpose — the schedule exists to give your body time to adjust. Which also means the days right after a step-up are usually when symptoms are loudest.

A few things that make that week easier:

→ Plan smaller meals for the first few days
→ Don't schedule the big dinner for day two
→ Keep fluids up, especially if nausea shows up

And the part people don't realize is an option: if you genuinely can't tolerate the increase, ask your doctor about staying at your current dose longer. Slowing the schedule down is a normal conversation to have — not a failure.

"Is this normal?" — the most asked question in every GLP-1 group.

Listed as common in the prescribing information for these medications:

· nausea
· constipation
· diarrhea
· vomiting
· stomach pain
· burping
· feeling full very quickly

Common doesn't mean you have to quietly put up with it. It means it's expected — and worth telling your doctor about instead of pushing through.

⚠️ Some things aren't "wait it out" territory: severe stomach pain that won't go away, vomiting you can't keep fluids down through, or signs of dehydration. Those are a call to your doctor, not a post in a group.

Why does everything feel "stuck" after you eat?

GLP-1 medications slow down gastric emptying — how quickly food leaves your stomach. That isn't a side effect. That's the mechanism. Slower emptying is what keeps you full, and being full is what makes you eat less.

The trade-off is that the same slowdown is what you feel as bloating, fullness that lasts for hours, and nausea.

You're not doing it wrong. It's the medication doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Save this for the next time it happens.

If you're on a GLP-1 and nobody explained what it would actually feel like this account is for you.

No products. No before-and-afters. No "one weird trick."

Just clear information about what these medications do, why the side effects happen, and what's worth bringing up with your doctor.

Follow if that's useful.

Here's what 6 months of gut support on GLP-1 actually looks like — a month-by-month breakdown backed by the science.
▸ MONTH 1 — ADAPTATION PHASE
GLP-1 begins activating gut receptors. Gastric emptying slows. Microbiome starts to shift. Side effects are at their highest. This is when most people quit.
🌿 Gut support focus: enzymes + ginger for immediate symptom relief.
▸ MONTH 2 — STABILIZATION PHASE
Your gut begins adapting to the new motility baseline. With consistent probiotic + prebiotic support, Bifidobacterium populations start to stabilize.
🌿 Gut support focus: probiotics + Triphala for regularity and microbiome rebuilding.
▸ MONTH 3 — OPTIMIZATION PHASE
Side effects reduce significantly for most users. Nutrient depletion risk peaks as food intake has been lower for 12+ weeks.
🌿 Gut support focus: targeted vitamins + minerals to replace what reduced eating has depleted.
▸ MONTHS 4–6 — MAINTENANCE PHASE
Most users report that this is when GLP-1 finally feels sustainable. The goal now is consistency.
🌿 Gut support focus: full daily protocol maintained. No shortcuts.
─────────────────
⚠️ The mistake: treating gut support as something you do only when it hurts.
It's most effective as a consistent daily protocol.

Most GLP-1 users don't know they're becoming deficient in these 5 nutrients. Here's the science.
When you eat significantly less — which is exactly what GLP-1 makes you do — your micronutrient intake drops.

But your body's need for those nutrients doesn't.

A 2023 analysis of GLP-1 users over 6 months found measurable deficiencies in:

1. Vitamin B12 — Critical for nerve function and energy. Absorption drops further when gastric emptying is slowed.

2. Iron — Particularly relevant for women. Reduced food intake = reduced dietary iron.

3. Folate (Vitamin B9) — Essential for cell repair. Depleted when leafy green intake drops.

4. Zinc — Immune and digestive function. Absorption is impaired by gut motility changes.

5. Magnesium — Muscle function, sleep, gut motility itself. One of the most common deficiencies in GLP-1 users.

This isn't about eating 'better.' You're eating less by design.

Targeted supplementation isn't optional on a GLP-1 journey. It's part of the protocol.

Relivia's formula includes therapeutic doses of all 5. Save this post.

Probiotics help but only the **right strains**, at the **right dose**.

Here’s what the research says for GLP-1 users specifically.

Not all probiotics are the same. And most probiotic products weren’t designed for what GLP-1 does to your gut.

Here’s what the research shows matters:

🔬 **Strain specificity**
*Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM* and *Bifidobacterium lactis Bi-07* have the **strongest clinical evidence** for supporting gut motility and reducing bloating in altered-motility conditions.

🔬 **CFU count**
Studies consistently show that doses below **10 billion CFU per day** don’t produce meaningful microbiome changes in most adults. Most grocery store probiotics contain *1–3 billion*.

🔬 **Survivability**
Probiotic bacteria must survive stomach acid to reach your large intestine. **Enteric coating or acid-resistant strains are essential** — otherwise you’re swallowing mostly dead bacteria.

🔬 **Prebiotic pairing**
Probiotics work significantly better when paired with prebiotic fiber. One 2021 meta-analysis found synbiotic combinations (probiotic + prebiotic) were **2.3x more effective** for constipation relief than probiotics alone.

**Relivia’s formula was built around this evidence. Not a trend. The research.**

𝗚𝗟𝗣-𝟭 𝗦𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗦 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗖𝗛 𝗘𝗠𝗣𝗧𝗬𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗬 𝗨𝗣 𝗧𝗢 𝟯𝟯%.

Here's what that means for your digestion 👇

GLP-1 drugs work by activating receptors in your gut wall (specifically the enteric nervous system).

This triggers 𝟮 𝗠𝗔𝗝𝗢𝗥 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗦:

1️⃣ 𝗚𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖 𝗠𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗦𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗦 𝗗𝗢𝗪𝗡

Food moves from your stomach into your small intestine much more slowly.

➡️ This creates the "full" feeling GLP-1 is known for.

2️⃣ 𝗚𝗨𝗧 𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗕𝗜𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗕𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗙𝗧𝗦

Studies show GLP-1 use changes the ratio of Bacteroidetes to Firmicutes in the gut — the bacterial populations most associated with digestion and inflammation.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗠𝗘𝗔𝗡𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬:

→ 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 → bloating

→ 𝗦𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 → constipation

→ 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 → gas, cramping, unpredictability

⚠️ 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻'𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗟𝗣-𝟭 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀.

Your gut needs a 𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗘 — not a one-size-fits-all capsule.
