Each year our Independent Living residents celebrate our local high school graduates who work in the Anser Cafe. We are very fortunate to have so many students from our local schools work and be a part of our community. It’s wonderful seeing the interaction between them and the residents. Thank you to all of our residents who organize and host this event each year. Congratulations Rawlin, Grayson, Julia, Samad and Jenna 🎓⭐️🎓

What better way to spend a Friday evening than with music and being outdoors? Lyrics by the Lake took place today, and it was a spectacular time thanks to live music from the “Caravan Band.” Hanging out like this outdoors, and with friends and family, is what life is all about. Remember, socializing with other people can help you age well, according to AARP. So please come join us next time! We’re having another one in September.

Join us in welcoming Dr. Elizabeth Draper!

Growing up in Oklahoma, she earned her medical degree from Oklahoma State University before moving to North Carolina to complete her Internal Medicine residency where she fell in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Since 2018, she has dedicated her career to long-term care medicine. Dr. Draper is passionate about building meaningful relationships with patients, helping them achieve their goals, and supporting them throughout their healthcare journey.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, knitting and crocheting, spending time outside, and traveling with her family. Her favorite book genres are fantasy and biographies.

We had held our Second Poker Walk today. It was a great time for us to get to know our Richfield campus, and some of the services Richfield has to offer. Not to mention a great way to get some exercise in! Exercising can help you perform daily tasks much easier, like getting in and out of bed or a chair. Exercising can also help to reduce your blood pressure and even improve your sleep, according to the National Institute on Aging.

We also enjoyed Deb's Frozen Lemonade and some live music from the 40 Years After Band at the Lower Lake! What a better way to enjoy a Thursday.

• Kierra Boxley, CNA Resource Pool, Home Care

• Leslie Wilfong, Administrative Assistant, FIL
• Marlene Conner, Registered Medication Aide, FAL
• Morgan Andrews, LPN, The Oaks
• Whitney Nichols, DON, Richfield Health Center

Despite the rainy weather, we still celebrated Memorial Day today. We hosted a cookout featuring hamburgers, a live DJ, and lots of great conversations. It was a nice time earlier today. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, social events like these can benefit your mental and physical health. They can also help protect you against serious illnesses and help you live longer. So, if you didn’t come out this time, come join us next time!

We would also like to thank our brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military. Thank you to our brave residents, staff, and their families who served or are currently serving in the U.S. military as well.
