Jose Anastacio “Tach” Guzman, 47, of San Benito, Texas passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026. Joe will always be remembered for his unforgettable sense of humor, he had a personality that instantly lit up any room be entered, he truly was the life of the party. He was known for being such a kind person to everyone he met, a man who would give a total stranger the shirt off his back. Joe had a passion for sports and attended many San Benito Greyhound football games, he was also a proud supporter of his community. Joe was a devoted father who deeply loved his sons and daughters. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course with his children and just loved being outdoors, even on his final days he joked nonstop and made his loved ones laugh. Joe's smile, laughter, and larger than life personality will be greatly missed he truly left his mark on this world may he rest in peace. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. recietation of the Holy Rosary at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. Jose Efrain Galvan, Sr., 84, of Port Isabel/ Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at his residence. Jose was born in Cruillas, Tamaulipas, Mexico, on September 16, 1941, to Santos and Francisca Galvan. He was the youngest of nine children and deeply loved his family and friends. Jose worked as a farmer and as the captain of a shrimp boat for more than 40 years. He loved traveling to his ranch in Ciudad Victoria, MX and visiting family in Montemorelos, Nuevo. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. recitation of the Holy Rosary at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. In Loving Memory of Elizabeth "Betty" Dodge Fibkins
After a valiant fight, at age 90, Betty lost her life to cancer and passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026. Born in Vermont and raised in Westfield Massachusetts, she always spoke dearly about her father, Walter J. Brand who was a brilliant chemist and kindhearted man. She graduated from Our Lady of the Elms College before marrying William L. Fibkins and raising their family, three sons in Bayport, Long Island NY. Betty loved the ocean, spending time with the family on the beach and enjoying seafood with steamed lobster being her favorite dish. Later in life she remarried to Charles F. (Fritz) Dodge a World War II Veteran and they resided in Latham NY. They both loved the sea, and they enjoyed wintering together in South Padre Island (SPI) TX until Fritz’s death in January 2015. Betty continued to enjoy summers in Latham NY being with her sister Peggy, enjoying the pool at the Italian Community Center and then wintering in SPI TX with her “Tiki” family. In 2024 she permanently moved to the TIKI where she continued to enjoy the pool despite her physical limitations – she loved being in the water which always put a big smile on her face. Betty also loved to travel including five trips to her favorite place in the world – Prague, the capital of Czech Republic. Betty had a strong will to live and made a heroic effort to remain independent and mobile during her final months often saying with a German accent “I can do this!”. She was often referred to as a “Firecracker” given her quick-wittedness. She liked going to the church Our Lady Star of the Sea and adored our patron Saint Lady of Guadalupe. Betty was preceded in death by her Husband Charles (Fritz) Dodge, Father and Mother Walter and Anna Brand and stepson Norman Dodge. Betty is survived by her Sister Peggy Brand, her three Sons: Brian, Brand and Bill. Daughter-in -laws: Debbie and Barbara, Grandchildren: Kaitlin, Kristina and Mason. Stepchildren: Wayne and Charlene Dodge and Kathleen Dodge Jones. Javier Hernandez. Cousins Jim and Deree Brand. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 25. 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, TX. Following the service in Texas, a service will be held in Latham NY (date to be announced) at the Parker Bros. Funeral Home, a mass at Our Lady of the Assumption before burying her ashes with her late husband Charles “Fritz” Dodge at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. We will also have a “Celebration of Life” next winter at the Tiki. Betty will be deeply missed by her immediate family, the Tiki family, the Italian Community Center family and all her friends until we meet again someday. It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose Angel Saucedo “Heli”, who entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the age of 63. Born in San Benito Tx. on September 16, 1962 to Manuel Saucedo Gonzalez and Ofelia Saucedo Villa. He was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family. Heli found happiness in the simple things in life. He loved spending time fishing and cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by his family. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or quiet moments together, he created memories that will be treasured forever by those who knew and loved him. Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of our Lord and Savior. His memory will forever remain in our hearts. Visitation and Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Prayer at 7:00pm and Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Tx. Thomas Pruitt Tyra, affectionately known as Tommy, passed away peacefully in San Benito, Texas on Friday, June 12, 2026. Tommy was born on February 12, 1953, in El Paso, Texas, to Garrett C. Tyra and Normalee Millicent York Tyra. A proud American, Tommy served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps for eight years following high school. The values of duty, commitment, and service that he learned in the Marines remained with him throughout his life. Following his military service, Tommy continued serving his community as an Officer with the El Paso Police Department from 1980 to 1984. After leaving law enforcement, he embarked on a career as a professional truck driver, traveling throughout the United States and embracing the freedom of the open road. Tommy was a man of many interests and passions. He enjoyed amateur (ham) radio, metal detecting, and model building. However, one of the greatest joys of his life was his dedication to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. For the past 24 years, Tommy devoted countless hours to serving the organization and its members. Throughout his years of service, he held numerous leadership positions, including Exalted Ruler, Esquire, Secretary, and Past Exalted Ruler (PER). His commitment to charity, fellowship, and community service left a lasting impact on those who knew him. Tommy's life was defined by service to his country, his community, his fellow Elks, and the people he loved. His legacy of generosity, loyalty, and friendship will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Semper Fidelis.
