Born in Brownsville, TX and raised in Matamoros, Mexico, my bicultural background has shaped my approach to therapy. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master's degree from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, I specialize in helping clients navigate life's challenges with compassion and cultural sensitivity. My certification as a Grief Counselor (GC-C) through the American A

cademy of Grief Counseling allows me to provide specialized support for those experiencing loss. I take a holistic approach to therapy, blending emotional support with practical solutions to help clients achieve meaningful change. For immigration attorneys and the clients you serve.

I provide psychological evaluations for asylum, VAWA, U-Visa, T-Visa, and Extreme Hardship Waiver cases. Every report is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and written to meet immigration legal criteria.

The process: an initial consultation, a comprehensive clinical interview (typically two telehealth sessions), trauma and psychosocial assessment, screening tools when clinically appropriate, and a written report tailored to the case.

Standard turnaround is 2–3 weeks. Expedited available. Spanish-language evaluations available. Flexible payment plans may be available.

Telehealth across Texas.

May is Mental Health Month.

For a lot of us in Latine families, the hardest part of starting therapy isn't the therapy itself. It's everything we were taught about it before we ever walked in.

That we should be able to handle it. That talking about it makes us weak, or disloyal, or ungrateful. That what happened to our families stays with our families.

None of that is true. And none of it has to be passed down again.

Some news. After running solo for a while, I'm officially launching Aurora Path Therapy PLLC.

Same me, same work, new name and a real home for it.

I'm Rafael Martinez, LCSW, GC-C, born in Brownsville, Texas and raised in Matamoros, Mexico. The practice is built for the people I grew up around and the people I've sat with in session. Adults carrying grief, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Folks in mixed-status families. LGBTQ+ clients figuring out identity, relationships, and family. People working through questions about sexuality, intimacy, and what they want their relationships to look like. Anyone navigating a big life shift, whether that's career, partnership, immigration, or becoming someone new.

Aurora Path Therapy is telehealth, available anywhere in Texas, in English or Spanish. Therapy in your first language, with someone who actually gets the cultural piece, not someone Googling "what is la chancla."

I also offer immigration psychological evaluations for asylum, VAWA, U-Visa, T-Visa, and Extreme Hardship Waiver cases. Trauma-informed, culturally responsive, legally relevant, court-ready.
