What began as a high fever quickly became septic shock caused by MRSA, leading to 62 days in the hospital, including 42 days in the ICU and two weeks in a medically induced coma.

Michelle’s recovery required months of rehabilitation, and she continues to live with permanent lung damage, chronic fatigue, anxiety, and nightmares.

Michelle is forever grateful her husband insisted she seek medical care. Without him, she doesn't believe she would have survived.

Her story is a reminder that sepsis can happen to anyone, and its effects can last long after leaving the hospital.

Ariel’s mom survived sepsis once. Months later, she developed septic shock from a perforated bowel. She spent months fighting to recover before passing away in September 2025.

Her journey is a heartbreaking reminder that sepsis can have lasting effects long after leaving the hospital.

In her memory, Ariel encourages everyone to listen to their bodies, seek medical care when something feels wrong, and never hesitate to advocate for themselves or a loved one.

After feeling unwell and being discharged from the hospital without answers, Patricia suddenly had a seizure and her heart stopped.

Doctors later discovered sepsis caused by an abscess in her spine, leading to four months in the hospital on IV antibiotics. Patricia survived, but is left with chronic pain and continues recovering while living with an autoimmune disease.

She is grateful to be here, and she shares her story to remind others that sepsis can happen to anyone, and early recognition can save lives.

Chris never felt sick before he suddenly collapsed while walking his dog.

He was rushed to the hospital with sepsis. Chris spent weeks recovering, underwent emergency heart surgery, and has very little memory of that time. Thankfully, antibiotics and his medical team saved his life, but recovery meant learning to walk again.

Sepsis can strike without warning, and sharing stories like his helps raise awareness of this life-threatening condition.
