Friday's proved to be very, very difficult but interesting, Apart from the extremely large left thyroid lobe, this patient had a left non-recurrent laryngeal nerve. It's the first one I've seen in over 25 years and occurs in 0.01% of the population. There's usually a high risk of injury when the nerve is aberrant, but thankfully the patient's voice is okay.
