On Friday, September 4, HealthRIGHT 360 staff and interns joined colleagues from across the substance use disorder treatment field for the Addiction Treatment Works Recognition Dinner at the Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose.
Hosted by Mary Crocker Cook, the evening recognized career achievement and rising talent among local treatment professionals. Scholarship awards were presented to Gregory Shuman and Melissa Moreno, and keynote speakers included Jeff Cormier, professor of psychology and Chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at Mission College, and HealthRIGHT 360’s own Trung Tong, ASW, LAADC.
Tong is a program manager with HealthRIGHT 360’s Asian American Recovery Services in San Jose, where he oversees the adult outpatient substance use treatment program and serves as a co-lead of HealthRIGHT 360’s Inclusion, Diversity, Anti-Racism, and Equity Committee.
HealthRIGHT 360 was also well represented among the award recipients and nominees. Karen Parsons, MSW, received the Clinical Supervisor Award for Outstanding Supervision. Parineeta Chandwani, AMFT, and Yaneli Del Real, CADCI, were nominated for the Chemical Dependency Counselor Role Model Award for Professionalism. Roberto Campos, LCSW, was nominated for the Clinical Supervisor Award for Outstanding Supervision, and Vanessa Fregoso, BASW and MSW student, was nominated for the Rising Star Intern Award.
Special thanks to Razelle Buenavista, who helped coordinate the event, along with the other HealthRIGHT 360 staff and interns in attendance, and to the San José City College Alcohol and Drug Studies Advisory Board for bringing the addiction treatment community together to recognize this work and support the next generation of professionals in the field.
