We invite you to share your expertise, work, and experiences in advanced practice administration & leadership with colleagues and peers. Please submit an abstract to participate as a speaker (podium presentation or a panelist), or, as a poster presenter to be considered for this unique and important healthcare conference.

APPex is a not-for-profit professional membership organization and network for healthcare executives, administrators, and leaders in advanced practice nursing/medicine that provides resources, support and consulting services to clinicians, hospitals and other healthcare institutions. Our mission, vision, and values focus intently on APP leaders and those who support them in their role, ultimately leading to safer & higher quality care, markedly more satisfied staff and patients, and more appropriate and efficient utilization of APRNs & PAs.

Originally founded in 2007 as Advanced Practice Executives, APPex began as a collection of 10-20 Directors of Advanced Practice—executive leaders at academic medical centers throughout the U.S.—who had administrative oversight of and responsibility for a specific group or groups of APPs. Some of these leaders solely oversaw nurse practitioners, while others oversaw all advanced practice registered nurses along with physician assistants.

APPex’s annual conference held in September--the Advanced Practice Provider (APRN & PA) Leadership Summit--is the first and largest conference specifically geared towards advanced practice leadership and administrative topics.

Initially developed and launched in early 2020, Advanced Practice Provider Executives, Inc. (APPex) established the first and only honorary recognition that formally acknowledges the accomplishments of APRN/PA expert administrators and leaders specifically involved with advanced practice. Fellows of APPex are selected based on outstanding contributions to advanced practice administration.

Becoming a fellow of a professional membership organization is an honor reserved exclusively for the most senior scholars. Not to be confused with a post-graduate residency/fellowship program, fellow status is an honorary, competitive process for which applicants/nominees must detail their achievements and show a substantial amount of work that has enriched their profession.

Applications are accepted on a rolling, ongoing basis.

Fellows of APPex will be honored and recognized annually at the national conference in September.

After this recognition ceremony, Fellows may begin using the FAPPex credential.

Initially developed and launched in 2013, Advanced Practice Provider Executives, Inc. (APPex) is the largest provider of training and continuing education on controlled substances to PAs and NPs in California.

It allows PAs to write for controlled substances without patient-specific approval and satisfies requirements of Business and Professional Code section 3502.1(c)(2), under the California Department of Consumer Affairs, PA Board.

It allows NPs to order/prescribe/furnish Schedule II medications and satisfies the continuing education requirements of Business and Professional Code section 2836.1(g)(3), under the California Board of Registered Nursing (i.e., Schedule II).

Courses are offered monthly (Saturdays) online from 9AM - 4PM PT and award six (6) CE/CME credits (PAs: Category 1 CME).
