In a surprise, late night visit, our CEO and COO Marc Gannon visited four of our residential programs: Leland House, San Jose Place, Hummingbird Valencia, and Hummingbird Potrero, to personally thank the overnight staff who quietly carry out some of the most important work in our organization.
While most of the city sleeps, these teams remain present, compassionate, and committed to ensuring our clients are safe, cared for, and supported through every hour of the night.
As Marc shared after the visit:
“Speaking for both of us, it was a terrific experience. Our clients were peacefully sleeping (except for a few night owls 😊), with access to all basic needs, surrounded by caring and dedicated staff. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of our work.”
Dr. Hawkes reflected on her own experience working third shift earlier in her career and spoke about the profound responsibility our teams hold every night:
“A lot of times, by the time people end up in one of our locations, they've been flat on their back, and we are the first hand up that they get. What an honor to be able to provide people with a warm bed, food, shelter, security, and potential treatment.”
To our overnight teams: thank you for your compassion, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to the people we serve. Your work matters deeply, and it does not go unseen.
