Limited classes today for Indigenous People Day 🙏🏽 For those of you who have today off, we hope your are having a restful or adventurous three day weekend and can include some yogic goodness into to your day. Join us today in Pracita Park at 10am to take you practice, your friends and Family outdoors and bring a picnic to stay and enjoy the beautiful day or take hike up Bernal Hill for the most breathtaking views of our gorgeous city!

We will be open for a very limited schedule of two classes today 11 am with Jasmine and a portion of Zoë’s 6pm class will be donated to Native American Wellness Institute. A non-profit organization founded in 2000, NWI’s mission is to “promote the well-being of Native people through programs and trainings that embrace the teachings and traditions of our ancestors.” “Wellness” might be a modern buzzword, but for the Native community, access to ancestral teachings to help physical, spiritual, emotional and mental well-being is a powerful tool for healing generations of trauma.

Whatever you are doing today try to take time in reflecting on the history of the land we live on and call “The United States of America”. Renaming “Columbus Day” to Indigenous Peoples’ Day draws attention to the pain, trauma, and broken promises that were erased by the celebration of Columbus Day and Holidays like Thanksgiving. Before his arrival, the indigenous folk were successful self-sufficient communities that sustained life by being deeply connected to their sacred traditions and land for thousands of years. For the Native Americans, Columbus Day has always been hurtful as it glorifies the violent past of racism and genocide and 500 years of colonial torture and oppression by European explorers like Columbus and those who first settled in America. So today, spend time in nature if you can to honor this holy ground we call home, talk to your children and family and friends about the real history of The United States, research the tribal lands you live on and their customs, explore books and films by Native Americans, give back by donating to Native American foundations and Non-Profits.

🙌🏽Next Saturday 10/24! Root Down, Rise Up! A Midterm Election Yoga for Justice & Community Outreach Workshop

It’s election season, and Lotusland has got your nervous system’s back. We’re bringing back Vatissa’s awesome Yoga for Justice offering ahead of the general election, and we are partnering with the ACLU to host a VOTER OUTREACH Community Event for the last hour of the workshop!

Join us at Lotusland, your sanctuary in the city, for a trauma-informed yoga workshop that supports healing, resilience, and nervous system care, and help get out the VOTE before the November 3rd general election.

Root Down and Rise up offers an inclusive, supportive space to pause, reset, and tend to your nervous system before participating in an act of service to increase voter turnout ahead of the general elections.

This trauma-informed workshop is designed to provide immediate stress relief and support nervous system regulation for those advocating for social justice in a challenging political climate.

By exploring the roots of Yoga’s ethical practices - The Yamas and practices of Pranayama (breathing practices), Asana (gentle, breath-focused postures), and Dhyana (meditation), participants will engage in healing, accessible practices that foster reconnection and care. Then we’ll harness that energy for a General Election Voter Outreach Activity.

You’ll leave with practical YOGA tools to support your resilience, regulate your stress, and ACTIVIST tools to support the community in using their voting power to fight for justice, freedom, and happiness for all beings!

No prior yoga or voter outreach experience needed. All practices are accessible and adaptable for all bodies and abilities.

🌚 New Moon Ritual Kundalini Attunement - Kundalini Yoga and Sound Bath with Yael THIS Friday at 5:30pm!

October rolls in with a heatwave some intense cosmic energy asking us to get deep and review our relationships with ourselves and the world around us with Venus retrograde in Scorpio! With the Sun and new moon in Libra on Friday, it places a spotlight and triggers our connections to intimacy, relationships, how we show up within them and all Venus and Libra qualities like love, justice and balance and our love for the world. New moons are always a great time for new beginnings and new chapters in our lives - with this one, it asks how are we getting along? Are we in or out of balance ? If we have been giving too much or not enough, the balance can be reset.

Yoga is perfect tool and practice during this time, to bring us back to balance - the middle or center point where we can find balance and harmony in all we do along with the spirit of community and collaboration instead of compromising or sacrificing ourselves or fighting. These times call for restorative practices and we have added many beautiful evening classes to help us fall asleep during Fall’s unstable and restless energy.

We’re so excited to have beloved Yael back for a Friday evening at dusk - as the nights lengthen and balance the length of the day, at Lotusland Yoga SF honoring the energy of the Autumnal Equinox and Libra New Moon - both representing balance and harmony.

Drop into presence through an evening of breath, movement and sound. Join Yael in a heart opening kundalini yoga practice supporting clarity and release as we move towards the fall season of reflection and restoration and set our intentions blessed by the Venusian new moon - honoring our relationship to ourselves and others.

Circulate your life-force and allow your system to reset. Enjoy a restorative soundbath with crystal bowls, chimes, ocean drum, and symphonic gong. Give yourself the gift of rest and relaxation, while filling up your energetic cup! Bring your journals and favorite tea cup to enjoy some sweet spiced tea and cookies. Sign up 🪷Everyone is welcome - sliding scale

🍂 As we move towards Vata Season in Ayurvedic wisdom, we’re taking the steps to prepare ourselves for the transition in seasons to lessen the impact on on our body/minds. Especially with the very stressful realities in our country, many of us are experiencing fear and uncertainty for ourselves and our communities. Yoga and Lotusland are a refuge in the storm for you to step out of the madness to take care of yourselves to be better prepared to handle the anxieties that a such time creates and be better prepared to be of service to others.

On October 16th, Join us for Artful Movement, Deep Rest and Sound Healing with Chris and Julia

Join our resident teacher and sound healer Chris Hill with visiting special guest teacher, Julia Horn for an experience of sweet harmonious surrender ~ As Nature Intends

SHAKESPEARE once wisely put it, “smooth runs the water where the brook is deep”and in this class we will begin to climb down into the infinite depth that is the internal universe. To start our journey inward, we will bring warmth to the body with soft, creative, free-flowing movement, then gently transition toward a sequence of longer held, supportive postures coming from both the restorative and yin traditions. Each part of the sequence will be tonally balanced with live music complimenting the movement as well as the longer held positions. The instruments will include handpans, gongs and “full-moon” singing bowls from the Himalayas imbued with healing mantras. When the body is allowed to dance and then be supported properly, space and freedom are created in the joints and spine creating an overall deep sense of well being, meditation and relaxation . Again and again we will surrender the physical into the pulsation of sound, prana and mudra of the shape shifting together into the ever-deepening waters of clarity, wisdom, and the nourishing wellspring of peace.
