Topical estrogen creams are having a moment right now, especially through menopause telemedicine clinics promising firmer, thicker, more "youthful" skin. I want to be honest with you about where the science actually stands.
Estrogen receptors do exist in skin, and declining estrogen during menopause is linked to thinning, dryness, and loss of collagen. So the theory makes sense on paper. But most of the studies on topical estrogen for skin are small, short term, and inconsistent. And for anyone with a uterus, there is a real unanswered question about systemic absorption and endometrial safety, since very few studies even evaluate this.
This is not "just skincare." It is hormone exposure, and it deserves the same caution you would give any other hormone therapy.
If you want evidence based anti-aging support, retinoids, antioxidants like vitamin C, and daily sunscreen still have the strongest data behind them.
Swipe through for the full breakdown, and always talk to your doctor before adding hormones to your routine, topical or otherwise.
