Significant weight loss can change the way the face ages.
Weight loss often leads to a reduction in facial fat and volume. As volume decreases, the skin has less support beneath it, which can make the face appear older, more hollow, or less defined.
Because of these changes, the aesthetic approach after weight loss is often different. Rather than focusing on removing tissue, treatment may focus on restoring volume. Depending on a patient’s anatomy and goals, options may include fat grafting, fillers, or facial lifting procedures.
The goal is to give back what the weight loss took away by restoring volume, support, and balance in a way that looks natural and refreshed.

If Dr. Tran had to pick one feature that gives away age the fastest, it wouldn’t be wrinkles. It would be the neck.
The neck often ages faster than the face. The skin becomes thinner, muscle bands can become more visible, the jawline loses definition, and small pockets of fat may develop beneath the chin. At the same time, many people spend years caring for their face while overlooking their neck.
The good news is that there are several ways to address the neck, depending on the cause. Treatment may involve skincare, addressing muscle bands, improving contour beneath the chin, or surgical rejuvenation when appropriate.

Removing more skin doesn’t make a facelift better. Sometimes it makes it worse.
According to Dr. Tran, the lift comes from repositioning the deeper tissues of the face, not from removing large amounts of skin. Once those deeper structures are restored, the skin can be redraped naturally, and only the excess is trimmed.
Removing too much skin can create unnecessary tension, leading to more visible scars, a pulled appearance, and results that look surgical rather than natural.
For Dr. Tran, the goal is not to remove as much skin as possible. The goal is to create a refreshed appearance by restoring support underneath and allowing the skin to drape naturally over the new contour.

Breast revision surgery is very different from a first-time breast augmentation.

Two facelifts can use the same technique and look completely different. Here’s what makes the difference.
Dr. Tran explains that a natural facelift starts with the right diagnosis. A face that has lost volume requires a different approach than a face that has primarily descended. Skin quality, facial structure, and the way a patient ages all influence the plan.
Restraint is equally important. The goal is not to create a dramatic change, but to restore balance and preserve a patient’s natural appearance.
