USA TODAY has featured George Mark Children’s House in a national story on pediatric respite, end-of-life support, and the families who need this kind of care.

The story shares the experiences of children and families served at George Mark, including Daniel, Paul, Abi, and their loved ones, while helping more people understand why pediatric palliative care matters and why families need support beyond the hospital.

Care means more than medicine. It can be a parent finally able to rest, a child enjoying a favorite activity, siblings feeling included, and a family having time together outside the hospital.

We are deeply grateful to USA Today for bringing wider attention to this work, and to the families who shared their stories with honesty, courage, and generosity.

If this story moves you and you are inclined to support this work, we invite you to visit our website to learn more about ways to help — whether by making a gift, volunteering, or sharing our mission with others.

At George Mark, music has a special way of filling the room.

We are grateful to for its generous grant. Their support helps give our patients access to meaningful activities like music therapy, and supports our overall mission to bring medically-safe respite care to children and young adults with serious illnesses.

Because of this collaboration, families have time to rest, travel, attend siblings’ events, and recharge, knowing their child is cared for in a safe, compassionate environment.

On this , we give a heartfelt shoutout to Oracle for helping children and families in our community flourish.

As we begin a new month, we also mark a meaningful transition at George Mark.

With deep gratitude, we honor Ken Sommer, who concluded his time as our Advancement Lead on June 30 after more than 15 years of extraordinary service.

Ken helped guide and strengthen George Mark through many important chapters, always with care for the mission and the children and families we serve.

As we welcome Michelle Collier as our new Senior Director of Advancement, we do so with appreciation for the strong foundation Ken helped build and the lasting impact of his work.

Thank you, Ken, for everything you have given to George Mark Children’s House!
