After years of dreaming, planning, and building, patients and even their family members, are now playing on our new all abilities playground. For many George Mark families, it is more than a playground. It is a place where siblings can play together, where children of all abilities can join in, and where no one has to sit on the sidelines.

We are grateful to Cristina Rendon for sharing these first moments with such care and heart. Cristina has been a friend of George Mark for many years, and we could not think of a better person to tell this story.

In our latest blog, Antoinette, our Director of Clinical Services, reflects on the heart of nursing at George Mark Children’s House. She writes about the quiet strength of pediatric palliative care, the different kind of hope our nurses help families hold, and the meaningful work of creating comfort when the focus is no longer cure.

Her reflection honors the nurses who carry out our mission every day with skill, compassion, and presence. The piece also features a moving story from Veronica Bitz, RN, whose words offer a glimpse into the care so many George Mark nurses bring to children and families.

Down the rabbit hole and into George Mark.

Our storybook friend brought a little Wonderland to the playroom with books, songs, a Cheshire Cat chat, and a very sweet singalong with Kali.

She read. She sang. Some joined in. For a little while, we all got to wander through a very merry Wonderland kind of afternoon.

This we are grateful for Play CV and their recent donation of gift baskets for our patients! The baskets have different themes that patients could pick from, with corresponding stuffies, blankets, coloring books, and stories.
