🐾 A special blessing for some very important members of our care teams.

Earlier this month, Providence chaplains gathered to bless the therapy dog teams in honor of the Feast of St. Francis and the Season of Creation.

These incredible dogs and their handlers bring comfort and companionship to patients, families and caregivers throughout our communities.

❤️ Thank you to our therapy dog teams and chaplains for making this meaningful tradition possible.

💗 Earlier this year, a special moment unfolded during Paint the Park Pink in Medford, Oregon.

Breast cancer survivor Juli Weiss surprised the crowd — and her son, Medford Rogues General Manager Jeff Weiss — by taking the field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. ⚾

Juli had been selected for the honor but kept it a secret until the moment she stepped onto the field.

“The family part of going through cancer is so important,” Juli said. “They were there for me every step of the way.”

For Juli, the moment was a celebration of family, survivorship and the importance of regular breast cancer screenings.

You don't need to have all the answers.

What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?

For Bianca, it's family, joy and the traditions she grew up with. For Andrey, it's pride, unity and honoring those who came before him.

Today, they're helping create that same sense of community for others as leaders of Providence's Latinx Caregiver Resource Group.

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close, we're celebrating Bianca, Andrey and the unique experiences and traditions that help make Providence stronger. 💙

A new beginning is on the horizon for seniors in need of housing and support.

In Rohnert Park, Burbank Housing will soon transform the former Best Western Inn into The Terraces at Copeland Creek, creating 70 affordable homes for seniors experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Residents will also have access to supportive services that promote health, stability and independence, helping them remain connected to their community.

Made possible through the California Department of Housing & Community Development Homekey+ award, along with financial support from Providence and the City of Rohnert Park, this collaborative effort will provide safe, stable housing and essential services for some of Sonoma County's most vulnerable seniors.

Providence is proud to help make this project possible and support a future where more local seniors can age with dignity, maintain their independence and feel truly at home.

After receiving life-saving care from Dr. Kurtis Birch and the ICU and ED teams at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in November 2025, Chris Nelle and his wife, Nancy, wanted to express their gratitude to the caregivers who made such a difference in their lives. They made a gift to the Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital Foundation in honor of the team and, with the help of Senior Philanthropy Officer John Contreras, were recently able to thank several caregivers in person.

“Thank you, John, for orchestrating today. It was meaningful for me. Sort of a cleansing of the soul...” shared Chris.

Thank you, Dr. Birch, our ICU and ED caregivers, and John for helping create this special moment. Your compassion, expertise and dedication continue to make a lasting difference for patients and families throughout our community. 💙

More than 65 student athletes from across Sonoma County received free sports physicals at Petaluma High School on Aug. 1, thanks to a team of Providence Medical Group volunteers.

Now in its third year, the event was led by Dr. Lucas King, PMG Orthopedic Surgeon and team physician for Petaluma High School, with support from fellow Providence providers, caregivers and family members who generously volunteered their time.

Together, the team helped remove barriers to care by providing the physicals students need to participate in school sports and stay healthy throughout the season.

Thank you to all our volunteers for supporting local student athletes and expanding access to care in our community. 💙🏈
