We seek to provide a unique opportunity for people with special needs through the horse-human bond.

The High Hurdles Therapeutic Riding Program was developed in 1997 by a committee of parents, educators and professionals who were interested in providing a therapeutic riding experience for children with developmental disabilities. The program has expanded over the years and currently serves hundreds of riders, from age three to eighty-three years of age. High Hurdles offers cognitively, emotionally and physically challenged individuals a unique opportunity for growth and development. Instructors, students, horses and volunteers all work together to achieve challenging yet attainable horsemanship goals. Learning to care for and about horses while mastering riding skills is what High Hurdles is all about.

🎃👻 Our Halloween Coloring Contest was a HUGE success! We had 62 coloring pages turned in, and we were blown away by all the creativity, color, and Halloween spirit!

It was nearly impossible to choose favorites because every single entry was so wonderful! Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate and share their artwork with us. 🧡

Congratulations to all of our winners! We can't wait to share some pictures as everyone receives their prizes. Be sure to keep an eye out for those!

There’s something special about getting out on the trail and enjoying a ride with one of our four-legged friends!

Trail rides give our riders a chance to practice their skills in a different setting while enjoying the experience along the way.

Did you know we incorporate fun games like frisbee golf into our lessons? 🥏

Activities like these are a great way to work on important skills while having fun! They can help riders:

🐴 Improve balance and coordination
🎯 Build focus and concentration
💪 Develop core strength and body control
🙌 Practice hand-eye coordination
😊 Build confidence and independence

Fall trail rides are hard to beat! 🍁 Our riders enjoyed getting outside with their horses last week and taking in the changing scenery.

We have some exciting news to share! 💗

Shelby welcomed her baby girl, Ivy Elise, on October 9th! Weighing 8 pounds, 12 ounces, Ivy has already made a big impression on our barn family.

Shelby and baby Ivy are doing great, and we are so happy for them. Congratulations to the whole family!

Hooves picked and a few minutes on the balance pads made Bella one happy girl! 🐴

Balance pads are a great tool for our horses and can help with:
• Deep muscle activation
• Proprioception and body awareness
• Posture and balance
• Relaxation

You may notice Bella rocking from side to side in the video. This is her working to find her center of gravity and adjust to the new sensation under her feet. That movement can also help release tension, encourage relaxation, and allow her to process what she's feeling.

Bella and all of our horses love their time on the balance pads! 💚
