🌳 Be the Oak Tree.

One of the analogies I often use with clients is the oak tree.

The oak tree doesn't stop the wind. It doesn't argue with the storm or wish it away. The branches bend, the leaves move, and sometimes the weather is intense, but the roots stay grounded.

Our lives are much the same.

Anxiety, grief, uncertainty, difficult relationships, intrusive thoughts, and unexpected challenges will come. We don't get to control every storm.

What we do get to control is how we respond.

We can learn to pause.
We can breathe.
We can ground ourselves.
We can focus on what is within our control and let go of what isn't.

Healing isn't about creating a life without storms. It's about growing roots deep enough that the storms no longer define us.

Today, ask yourself:
What helps keep you rooted when life feels windy?🌿

A lot of people come to me for relationship guidance.
Here's what I tell them: I can teach you a skill set. We can work on communication, boundaries, recognizing patterns, and building self-awareness. But I can't make your choices for you.
Sometimes the hardest part of therapy isn't learning a new skill, it's applying that skill to the decisions you make every day.
Every choice has consequences. If the same patterns continue, the outcomes often do too. My role isn't to rescue anyone from those consequences. My role is to provide the tools, support, and space for you to decide what comes next.
Therapy provides the tools. Your choices shape the direction.

One of the healthiest things I've ever done as a therapist is have a therapist.

Yes, therapists go to therapy too.

We aren't immune to grief, stress, loss, life transitions, or the challenges that come with being human. We believe in the work we do, and that includes doing our own work.

Having a therapist doesn't mean we're broken or incapable. It means we value self-awareness, personal growth, and showing up as the best version of ourselves—for our clients, our loved ones, and ourselves.

If you're wondering whether it's okay to ask for help, let this be your reminder: seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. We all deserve a space where we can be heard, supported, and continue growing.

Funny how a simple run can teach you so much about life. You don't have to have everything figured out. You just have to keep moving forward. Some days are fast, some are slow, but every step is part of the journey.

📣 Practice Update

I wanted to share a quick update with my community.

Due to upcoming travel, the start of my graduate certificate program, and my new adjunct teaching role, I will be pausing acceptance of new therapy clients until mid to late September.

I'm incredibly grateful for the trust so many of you have placed in me, and I want to ensure I can continue providing the quality of care each client deserves while balancing these exciting professional opportunities.

If you're interested in working with me once I reopen my schedule, I'd love to add you to my waitlist. Please email me at [email protected] with your name, state of residence (Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina), insurance and a brief description of what you're seeking support for.

Thank you for your patience, your referrals, and your continued support of Uneek Perspective, LLC. I look forward to serving new clients again this fall. 💚

For nearly two years, I've had the privilege of incorporating Clinical Hypnosis into my clinical practice. Watching veterans and clients discover new ways to manage stress, improve sleep, reduce pain, and work through emotional challenges has been incredibly rewarding.

Today, I simply want to give a shout-out to everyone who is willing to step outside of their comfort zone and try something new.

Whether it's learning a new therapeutic modality, returning to school, earning a certification, changing careers, or saying "yes" to an opportunity that feels intimidating, keep going.

Growth doesn't stop because of your age, your title, or your years of experience. Some of the most meaningful professional and personal growth happens when we're willing to become beginners again.

So here's to those who keep learning, keep evolving, and keep investing in themselves. The courage to try something new may be exactly what opens the door to your next chapter.

Keep growing. The world needs professionals who never stop learning.
