We are thrilled to welcome Audrey Benton to The Heart Center! Join her for class Tuesdays & Thursdays at noon, and Thursdays & Fridays at 9am.
Audrey has been practicing yoga since the 1990s and teaching full time since 2002. Her “why” is and always has been wellness. She has seen students find relief from chronic pain, arthritis, scoliosis, and pelvic floor issues, and return to themselves through grief, addiction, and mental health challenges, stronger and more whole. She trains new teachers in the Ghosh lineage, vinyasa, yin, and yoga nidra, and mentors working teachers.
Audrey’s training is deeply rooted in lineage, with the understanding that all
things evolve. She began in the Ghosh lineage in 2002, and in 2019 she traveled to
Kolkata to study yoga therapeutics at Ghosh’s Yoga College with Muktamala
Mitra, granddaughter of Bishnu Ghosh and great-niece of Paramahansa Yogananda. In vinyasa, she trained directly with Baron Baptiste and Bryan Kest. She studied yin yoga in the style of Paul Grilley before training with Bernie Clark, and trained in yoga nidra with Richard Miller in 2009.
In Audrey’s classes, you can expect clear, caring guidance and a practice that is
accessible and challenging, so beginners and advanced students can work side by
side. Drawing on her background in yoga therapeutics, she offers thoughtful
modifications for each body and makes room for breath, stillness, and deep rest
alongside the work of the poses.
Off the mat, Audrey loves all things Pacific Northwest and holds a deep respect
for people’s individual gifts and the beauty of things made by hand. She is a proud
aunt and a devoted cat mom. Trained through Reiki Level 2, she shares Reiki
almost exclusively with animals, mostly cats and dogs.
