She tried so hard to breastfeed. She thought she failed.

When a mother stops nursing earlier than she planned — when it hurts every single time, when the baby never seems satisfied — sometimes the answer has nothing to do with her.

Sometimes the answer is in her baby's mouth.

Tongue tie (the clinical term is ankyloglossia) is a shortened frenulum — the tiny strip of tissue under the tongue — that limits how freely the tongue can move. And when the tongue can't move freely? The latch suffers. The transfer suffers. The mother suffers. And the guilt? The guilt is enormous.

🚨 Do you know the signs to look for that, unless treated early, may result in the need to wear a helmet?

Many parents think a helmet (cranial remolding orthosis) comes out of nowhere.

In reality, it often begins with torticollis—a tightness in the neck muscles that causes babies to favor one side. Over time, this can lead to head flattening (plagiocephaly) and, in some cases, the need for helmet therapy.

Early signs can include:

✔️ Looking more to one side

✔️ A slight head tilt

✔️ Fussiness when turning their head

If your baby needed a helmet, please hear this: 💛 It's not your fault.

Most parents were never told what to look for. But recognizing the signs early can make a big difference.
