Old Shawnee Days is a tradition we look forward to every year, and this year is especially meaningful for the Amos Family. We are honored to celebrate one of our own, Joni Amos Pflumm, who has been selected as this year's Old Shawnee Days Parade Grand Marshal! It is an honor that is so well deserved by Joni-- a true humanitarian and friend.

We had a wonderful time recognizing Joni this morning at the Old Shawnee Days Breakfast as we helped kick off a great weekend of festivities. Enjoy some pictures from this morning, along with a few throwbacks to Gene and Margaret's times as Grand Marshal.

Be sure to give her a wave during the parade this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Shawnee. Congratulations, Joni—we couldn't be more proud!

Today, we are honored to celebrate 80 YEARS of serving our community as a family-owned and operated funeral home in Shawnee, Kansas.

It is difficult to put into words the gratitude and pride we feel in having the opportunity to serve tens of thousands of families throughout Shawnee, Johnson County, and the Kansas City metropolitan area across four generations. The trust and support our community has given the Amos Family over these past eight decades means more than we could ever express.

While so much has changed over the years, our commitment to caring for families with compassion, dignity, and personal service has remained the same.

Thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you during life’s most difficult moments. We are deeply grateful for the past 80 years and look forward to continuing to serve our community for generations to come. Please enjoy looking through some of these photos and memories of the past.

Mother’s Day can bring both joy and remembrance, and we hope you take time today to cherish the love, memories, and moments that make mothers so special.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms and mother figures.

A couple of weeks ago, funeral director Teagan and mortuary science student Shea were out at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens when they were greeted by some curious and friendly visitors during a little downtime.

Safe to say these sweet donkeys quickly became the highlight of the afternoon.
