It's Mental Wellness Wednesday and a reminder to step outside and soak up a little morning sunlight. ☀️

Getting natural light in the morning – even 5 to 30 minutes – can have powerful mental health benefits and help your body feel more balanced throughout the day.

Here’s how sunlight supports wellness:
• Boosts serotonin, the brain chemical linked to improved mood, calmness, and focus
• Helps regulate cortisol, the body’s stress hormone
• Supports healthy Vitamin D production, which plays an important role in mental and physical health
• Supports melatonin production later in the day to help keep your sleep-wake cycle in sync

A few reminders:
• Never look directly at the sun.
• Brief morning light exposure without sunglasses can be helpful, but if you’ll be outside longer than about 15 minutes, wear sunscreen to protect your skin
• Talk with your healthcare provider if you have concerns about sunlight exposure or Vitamin D levels

Small daily habits can make a meaningful difference for your mental health and wellness.

It’s Mental Wellness Wednesday.✨

Did you know adults spend over 90% of their time indoors? Stepping outside, even for 10-20 minutes, can significantly lower stress, boost mood, and improve focus.

🪴 Nature has a powerful way of grounding us. From reducing cortisol levels to easing anxiety and emotional exhaustion, time outdoors isn’t just refreshing. It is essential.

✨ Try a little “forest bathing” today:
• Tune in to your senses: listen to birds, notice scents, feel the breeze
• Appreciate the small things: a park bench, a garden, a shady tree
• Bring the outdoors in with plants or fresh air
• Create “no-phone” moments and truly unplug
• Let loved ones know you are taking intentional time for yourself
• Slow down and find beauty in every step
Your mind deserves a breath of fresh air 🌱

Today, we honor and celebrate mothers and all who are mother figures to others.

We also recognize that this day can be complicated and bring a mix of emotions ranging from joy and gratitude to grief, loss, strained relationships, or reflection on what was missing.

Whatever today holds for you, move through it care and compassion for yourself. Honor your needs, set boundaries, honor your feelings, and seek support if you need it.🫶

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

It is also an important reminder: working with a real licensed mental health professional matters.

While AI and wellness apps can be helpful tools, they are not a substitute for clinical care. Licensed therapists are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions and to adapt that care in real time based on your needs.

They are also bound by strict ethical standards and confidentiality laws, ensuring your care is both safe and personalized.

Whether you choose in-person or virtual therapy, connecting with a licensed clinician is the safest and most effective way to support your mental health.

Have you heard that squats improve brain health?? Squats increase cerebral blood flow and enhance cognitive functions (memory, focus and executive functioning). Squats increase the production of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDFN), a protein that promotes the growth of and survival of new neurons. Squats reduce mental fatigue. Just one to three minutes of squats can counteract the cognitive fog associated with prolonged sitting. Squats trigger the release of endorphins and regulate serotonin and dopamine. This reduces stress and boosts your mood! Try taking small breaks in your day to do a few squats. Hold a baby, a dumbbell, a heavy book or even do this with just your body weight. What do you think? Does this help your mood?
