The Ruby Valley Medical Center is a critical access hospital and Montana designated trauma receiving facility serving Sheridan, Twin Bridges, Alder, Laurin, Silver Star, Virginia City, Nevada City and Waterloo. The Medical Center offers five in-patient beds, two observation beds, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, physical therapy, speech language pathology, swing bed, 24 hour emergency care and a highly qualified nursing staff. Our healthcare providers support patients through the Ruby Valley Medical Center and the clinics in Sheridan and Twin Bridges. Our clinics offer a wide range of healthcare services including pediatrics, well-woman exams, sports physicals, geriatrics, mental health, osteopathic care, chiropractic care, treatment for chronic pain and tele-medicine to off-site specialists. Our visiting specialists provide podiatric, gynecological, surgical, and hearing services. The Ruby Valley Medical Center also provides mobile emergency medical services through Ruby Valley Emergency Medical Services. The Ruby Valley Medical Center receives financial support from the Ruby Valley Healthcare Foundation and the Ruby Valley Medical Center Auxiliary.

Ruby Valley Medical Center was recently recognized with the Stroke Recognition Award, which is sponsored by the Cardiovascular Health Program within the state health department. The Recognition Award singles out Critical Access Hospitals that demonstrate that they have the infrastructure and commitment to provide high quality care for patients with acute stroke. Receiving the Stroke Recognition confirms Ruby Valley Medical meets high standards related to the utilization of evidence-based stroke order-sets and protocols, laboratory and radiology services available 24/7 and administrative commitment to treating acute stroke patients.

The Stroke Recognition Award was launched in 2011, and Ruby Valley Medical is one of only 18 Critical Access Hospitals in Montana to receive the recognition. Requirements for the recognition include tracking and reporting key stroke outcomes, using outcomes data to initiate quality improvement activities and coordinating regular healthcare provider stroke trainings.

Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability and is a leading cause of death in the Montana. Annually, nearly 2,000 Montana families were directly impacted by the devastating effects of stroke. Symptom recognition and timely, high quality treatment are important factors in reducing death and disability from stroke.

Know the signs and symptoms of stroke:

▪ Sudden numbness or weakness of the face arm or leg
▪ Sudden trouble seeing
▪ Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
▪ Sudden loss of balance or coordination
▪ Sudden severe headache with no known cause
Know what to do if you or someone you know experience stroke symptoms:

RVMC held their monthly potluck today, which just happened to coincide with Presley Young’s birthday. There was good food and hearty fellowship, birthday cake and ice cream. RVMC staff sure know how to have fun.

At our annual picnic employees were recognized for their years of service. Roseann Troyer was recognized for 40 years of service. Brenda Green was recognized for 20 years of service. Kristen Tezak was recognized for 10 years of service. Those with 5 years of service are: Sydnee Mailey, Jessica Sanson, Amy Pack-Young, Ronnie Judge, Katrina Ansara, and Belen Ramirez. Each were recognized at RVMC’s annual family BBQ. Thank you all for the years you’ve devoted to serving this community by working for Ruby Valley Medical Center.

RVMC hosted their annual employee BBQ tonight. The lightening and torrential downpour moved the party indoors but it didn’t dampen the spirit.
