This patient underwent reconstruction on the left side following breast cancer surgery, paired with a reduction on the right side to restore balance and symmetry between the two.

This combined approach is often used after a lumpectomy or mastectomy, allowing the surgical team to rebuild the affected breast while adjusting the other side so the results look natural and proportionate. Limb salvage or amputation: how do we decide?

It's one of the hardest conversations in surgery, and there's no one size fits all answer. The right path depends on blood flow, nerve and bone damage, overall health, and what matters most to you.

Limb salvage can include restoring blood flow, repairing bone, or rebuilding tissue with flaps, grafts, or a prosthesis, often across more than one surgery. Amputation may mean a faster recovery with fewer procedures down the road, and that's not a failure of salvage. It's the plan that fits the patient.

Pudendal neuralgia is a common but often overlooked cause of chronic pelvic pain. Caused by irritation or compression of the pudendal nerve, it can lead to burning, stabbing, or aching pain that worsens with sitting, along with numbness or changes in sensation in the pelvic area.

Risk factors include cycling, childbirth, pelvic surgery, prolonged sitting, and chronic constipation. If your pain has lasted more than three months, worsens when seated, or affects urination, bowel movements, or intimacy, it may be time to talk to a specialist.
