Friday night recovery 🏈 What we do with our football players after a game 👇

Four quarters of football takes a toll. Every cut, tackle, sprint and pile-up loads the body, and the work doesn’t stop when the final whistle blows. How you recover over the weekend decides how you show up on Monday.

Here’s what we focus on:

→ Ankles and feet first. Every cut and every sprint starts from the ground up. Stiff ankles push more stress up into the knees, hips and low back, so we check how they’re moving and get them working again.
→ Hips and low back. Football is a rotation and collision sport. When the hips lock up, the low back usually takes the hit.
→ Neck and upper back. Tackles and collisions jolt the head and neck. We check for stiffness or restricted movement so small issues don’t turn into nagging ones.
→ Soft tissue work. We work on tight, overworked muscles to help blood flow and get them recovering faster.
→ Mobility for the week. Every athlete leaves with simple movements to keep things loose until the next game.
The goal isn’t just to feel better on Saturday. It’s to stay healthy, stay on the field and finish the season strong.
Parents and coaches, does this sound like your athlete? 👇
→ Always sore or stiff the day after games
→ Has rolled an ankle more than once this season
→ Complains about their low back, hips or neck
→ Seems slower or less explosive as the season goes on

Comment “ATHLETE” and we’ll send you how we help keep players on the field 👇

If your athlete takes a hit to the head and has a headache, dizziness, confusion, vomiting or seems “off,” get medical care right away and keep them out of play until they’re cleared.

If your pitcher’s elbow hurts, the elbow probably isn’t the problem ⚾👇

A pitch doesn’t start in the arm. It starts in the legs, moves up through the hips, then the trunk, and the arm is the last link in the chain.

When the hips and mid back don’t rotate the way they should, the arm has to make up the difference. The shoulder and elbow end up absorbing force they were never meant to handle on their own. Pitch after pitch, that adds up.

That’s why resting the arm or icing the elbow often isn’t enough. If the hips and mid back are still stuck, the pain tends to come right back once they start throwing again.

Quick check you can do at home:
→ Sit in a chair and cross your arms over your chest
→ Rotate your upper body as far as you can to one side, then the other
→ If one side is noticeably shorter, that’s something to pay attention to

One drill to start with is open books:
→ Lie on your side with your knees stacked and your hands stacked out in front
→ Reach your top hand up and over as far as you comfortably can, with your eyes following your hand
→ Come back slowly
→ 10 slow reps each side

Parents and coaches, does this sound like your pitcher? 👇
→ Their elbow or shoulder hurts after games or practice
→ They lose velocity or control as the game goes on
→ Their rotation is tighter to one side
→ They’ve been told to “just rest it” more than once
→ The pain keeps coming back once they start throwing again

Comment “PITCH” and we’ll send you what we check in every throwing athlete 👇

If there’s swelling, a pop, numbness or tingling in the hand, or pain that doesn’t settle with rest, get it checked before they throw again.

Friday night lights in Southeast Texas 🏈

Proud to be on the sideline for Hardin-Jefferson vs Hamshire-Fannett, and even prouder of these three.
23 carrying the load on offense as running back, and and locking it down on defense. Every hit, every cut and every snap takes a toll on the body, and these guys put in the work all week so they can show up on Friday.

That's what we're here for. Keeping athletes moving well, recovering faster and staying on the field where they belong.

Love seeing our guys compete. Keep grinding, fellas 💪

Athletes and parents, if you've got a player dealing with nagging pain or tightness, or just wanting to stay ahead of injuries this season, send us a DM.

Hi mamas!! I'm Riley, the girl behind The Extra Set! 🤍

I figured it was about time I introduced myself and shared a little bit about the heart behind this little business of mine!

First, a little about me! I'm 21 years old, born and raised in Southeast Texas, and you can usually find me making coffee at 7 Brew when I'm not working on The Extra Set! ☕️

I've always been a creative girl at heart. I love making banners, decorating for special occasions, and finding little ways to make things feel extra special. I'm also someone who genuinely enjoys staying busy, having a project to work on, and finding ways to make the people around me happy.

Outside of work, I love spending time with the people closest to me, and I've always been someone with big dreams and a million ideas running through my head! Starting something of my own has been something I've wanted for a long time, and getting to combine my creative side with my love for helping others makes The Extra Set feel even more special to me.

For as long as I can remember, I've had such a love for children and families. I've spent years caring for little ones, helping families with their everyday routines, and finding so much joy in being someone others can count on. I've even had the opportunity to work in childcare, with kiddos of all ages, which is an experience I'll always be grateful for!

But my passion for The Extra Set goes so much deeper than just loving kids or enjoying helping people.

Growing up, I watched my own mom carry so much on her shoulders. And as I've gotten older, I've noticed that same thing in so many of the women around me.

Moms are constantly wearing a million different hats. They're taking care of their babies, keeping up with their homes, making sure everyone is fed, remembering every appointment, planning every birthday, and somehow still finding ways to show up for everyone around them.

And so often, they're doing all of that while putting themselves last.

I've watched women I love take on what feels like the weight of the entire world, and it's made me realize just how much goes into being a mama that so many people never even see.

I started The Extra Set because I wanted to do something about that, even if it's just in a small way.

I wanted to create a service that meets moms wherever they are in life. Whether you're preparing to welcome a new baby, trying to get caught up around the house, needing an extra hand with dinner, planning a special celebration, or simply wishing there were a few more hours in the day, I want to be someone you can call.

Because I don't believe a mama should have to be completely overwhelmed before she deserves a little help.

Sometimes it's not about having someone do everything for you. Sometimes it's just about having someone beside you, making the day feel a little lighter.

That's what I want The Extra Set to be.

I want to be the person who walks into your home ready to jump in, who treats your family with genuine care, and who helps you cross a few things off that never-ending to-do list.

I know that inviting someone into your home and trusting them around your family is a big deal, and I don't take that lightly.

Starting this business has been a dream of mine, and putting myself out there has definitely been a little scary! But I believe in what I'm creating, and I can't wait to see where it goes.

To every mama who's ever felt like she has to do it all, I hope The Extra Set can be a reminder that you don't have to.

You deserve help. You deserve time for yourself. You deserve to enjoy the little moments without constantly thinking about everything that still needs to get done.

And if I can make even one mama's day a little easier, then I'm doing exactly what I set out to do.

With love,
Riley 💌

Comment “ARM” and we’ll send you how to get screened from the ground up ⚾🏈

Your arm isn’t the engine. It’s the last link in the chain.

Every throw starts at the ground. Your legs push, your hips turn, your trunk whips, and only then does the arm deliver it. By the time it gets there, the shoulder is rotating over 6,500 degrees per second, one of the fastest motions in all of sports.

Here’s the part most athletes never hear. In classic research on the tennis serve, more than half of the energy came from the legs, hips and trunk. And a 20% drop in energy from the trunk meant the arm had to move about 34% faster to deliver the same energy to the hand.

So when something lower in the chain isn’t doing its job (stiff hips, a mid-back that won’t turn, a core that leaks, ankles that can’t load), the arm picks up the slack. Throw after throw.

Sore after every outing? Losing velocity late in games? Inside of the elbow talking? Low back tight too?

That’s your arm covering for the chain.

We don’t start at the arm. We start at the ground.

Your low back isn’t built to rotate. 🔄

Every swing, throw and kick needs rotation. The question is where it comes from.

Your hips and mid-back are built to turn. Your low back is built to stay stable. When your hips lock up or your mid-back gets stiff, your low back gets asked to make up the difference, swing after swing.

That’s when you get:
→ a tight back after every round or game
→ power leaking out of your swing
→ the same side grabbing every time

Swipe for 2 quick tests to check your turn, plus the 4-step fix.

Back tight after every game? Comment “ROTATE” and we’ll send you the breakdown.

Everyone asks if cupping hurts. Most people are surprised: it usually feels good.

Here’s why. Almost every recovery tool pushes down on your muscles. Massage, foam rolling and massage guns all compress tissue. Cupping does the opposite. It uses suction to pull skin, fascia and muscle up and away from each other.

Most people describe it as a deep, slow stretch from the inside. Over really tight spots it can feel intense for a few seconds, then it eases. A lot of athletes almost fall asleep on the table.

So what are the marks?

They’re not toxins, and they’re not from impact. The suction draws blood toward the surface and breaks a few tiny capillaries under the skin. That’s the color you see. It isn’t painful like a bruise from getting hit, and it usually fades in 3–7 days.

The darker marks tend to show up over the areas that were tightest or most overworked, which is exactly where athletes feel it most.

Why athletes use it:
→ Tight, overworked muscles that stretching won’t touch
→ Recovery between heavy training days or games
→ Shoulders, lats and backs on throwers and swimmers
→ Hamstrings, calves and hips on runners and lifters
→ Feeling looser before practice or competition

What it’s not: a magic fix. Cupping works best as part of a plan, alongside adjustments, mobility work and proper training. That’s how we use it.

Who should skip it or ask first: anyone on blood thinners, with a bleeding disorder, broken or irritated skin in the area, or who’s pregnant.

If you’ve got a spot that never loosens up no matter what you do, comment **CUP** and I’ll send you how we use it with athletes.

Your hamstrings aren’t tight. They’re overworked. 🦵

If you stretch every day and they lock right back up, or you keep tweaking the same side, stretching was never going to fix it.

Most “tight” hamstrings are protecting something:
→ a pelvis that tips forward and keeps them on tension all day
→ glutes that aren’t firing, so the hamstrings do double duty
→ a sciatic nerve that can’t glide freely

Swipe for 2 tests you can do right now, and the 4-step fix.

Keep pulling the same hamstring? Let’s find out why.

You’ve had lessons. You’ve bought the new driver. And your distance keeps slipping anyway.

Sometimes the club isn’t the problem. It’s a joint that quit rotating.

A golf swing is a chain of rotation. Power starts in the hips, moves through the mid-back, and finishes through the shoulders and arms. Every segment has a job. When one of them stops doing its share, the swing doesn’t get weaker. It reroutes.

Say your mid-back is stiff. Your body still has to get the club around, so it borrows rotation from places that were never built for it: the lower back and the lead shoulder. You still make a swing. You just leak speed doing it, and the joints picking up the slack take extra load every round.

That’s why the same golfer can have a “swing flaw” that no lesson fixes, plus a lower back that aches after 18 holes. It looks like a technique problem, but the restriction is upstream of the technique.

And this one is easy to miss because it doesn’t hurt. A stiff joint rarely does. You just slowly lose the range you used to have, and your swing adapts around it so quietly you never notice.

Honest note: distance depends on plenty of things, including strike quality, equipment, strength and coaching. A good instructor is still worth it. This matters when the mechanics look fine on video and the numbers keep dropping anyway.

If you’ve been losing distance and nobody has looked at how you rotate, comment **ROTATE** and I’ll send you the breakdown.
