Both people were unvaccinated. Their deaths, the first ones reported in the U.S. this year, came as the country registers the most measles cases in any year since 1991.

No transmission noted in Montgomery County yet. Please make sure your kids are up-to-date with their vaccines! If you think your child under one may be exposed, we can give an MMR vaccine to kids as young as 6 months of age.

RELEASE: An outbreak of measles has been declared in St. Mary’s, Carroll and Cecil counties with 14 new confirmed cases in unvaccinated Maryland residents. AAP’s schedule is based on when children’s immune systems respond best to immunizations, and when they are most vulnerable to preventable diseases.

We don't change recommendations because of political considerations, speculations, or misinformation. Right now, the evidence continues to show that these vaccines are safe, effective, and important for protecting children.
