The "official" Wildfire Awareness month is May of every year, but we here at KCD wanted to get some wildfire information out to the folks here in our neck of the woods just in case... Wildfires are terrifying and disastrous whenever and wherever they might strike. So, we're going to make a few posts over the coming weeks to help remind everyone here the resources we have at our fingertips.
Much of this information comes from the Washington State Department of Agriculture, where they've put together these resources encouraging farmers and ranchers to take a few simple steps now to protect your land, crops, and livestock against wildfire. Wildfires move fast, and without a plan, things can escalate quickly. It’s not just about reacting when the fire is close, but it’s about being prepared before, during, and after the crisis.
