Our hearts are heavy as we share the passing of our sweet Helen Hooper. ❤️

Helen was part of our Independent Living family for several years, and we truly enjoyed every bit of the time we were blessed to have with her.

She may have been quiet, but she definitely had a fun side — especially when it came to heckling some of our staff about being KU fans. 😂💙❤️ She was always up for an afternoon game with a Pepsi in hand, and she loved sharing stories about her years as an educator.

One thing that could always bring an extra sparkle to Helen’s face was a baby coming to visit. She absolutely loved little ones and was always ready to get her baby fix. 🥰

Helen brought such a sweet, gentle presence to our home, and she will be greatly missed by our residents and staff. We are so thankful her family trusted us to be part of her life for so many years.

Rest easy, Helen. You will always hold a special place in our Independent Living family. ❤️

And Helen, we are only saying this for you — and only this one time…

We recently received the results of our State of Kansas inspection, and we are proud to announce that Independent Living – Smith Center received ZERO deficiencies! 🎉

Providing a safe, caring, and comfortable home for our residents has always been our top priority, and we are incredibly grateful that our team’s hard work was recognized.

We are also currently have one opening for a new resident. If you or someone you know is looking for a warm, home-like environment where compassionate care comes first, we’d love to visit with you and show you what makes our home so special.
