Gongs are a whole world of their own, and with this one, it’s all about the buildup. People seem inclined to just smash a gong, but the lead-up is crucial!

This 14” Chinese Wind Gong from Gongs Unlimited is powerful, but still light enough for me to carry during a sound bath. I love using it to create a wind-like effect that you can actually feel through the swaying and vibration. And I’m still working on my arm strength, so the fact that I can comfortably move this one around is a bonus. 😅

It can also have a wake-up quality. Does this sound feel calming or energizing to you? 💫

Take a slow breath and let your shoulders drop away from your ears. These 40-note bar chimes sound like a fairy dream. 🧚‍♀️✨ They’re such a pleasantly surprising sound to hear in the middle of a sound bath, adding a little playfulness and magic to the journey.

I love that you can play them with the mallet, run your fingers across the bars, or let the breeze move through them. They might make a pretty great alarm clock sound too… a much gentler way to ease into the day. 💫

This little guy packs a punch. The first time I heard it, I thought it was a much larger instrument with beads inside, like a shaker or rattle. I was surprised to find out it was this!

We’re halfway through! Thanks for following along on this sound journey. 💜

Crystal singing bowls are beautiful, but they’re also heavy and fragile. A practitioner bowl with a handle allows me to bring the sound and vibration of a crystal bowl directly to someone during a sound session. Being able to experience the resonance up close can be deeply relaxing, and I find it incredibly meditative for me as the practitioner too. Mine is tuned to C / 440 Hz. 💫

When I discovered this instrument, I was a bit mind blown. I know it might look just like yesterday’s Ocean Drum, but don’t be mistaken. The Water-Fall Disc combines an ocean drum and the rainstick I shared with you the last two days, all in one. You hear the rolling waves of the ocean, followed by the trickle of the rain. The sound is so much more textured and nuanced than either instrument alone. It’s pretty magical✨ Handmade by Nazar Drums Workshop in Moldova.

Take a breath, close your eyes if you can, and listen for the two layers. Can you hear both sounds? 🌊

I rarely finish a sound bath without someone asking about this one. It truly transports you to the beach, and one could sit with this sound for a long time.

My MEINL Sonic Energy 20” Ocean Drum has two drum heads with different timbres, and tiny steel beads inside that create the sound of rolling waves as you gently move it. The sound can fill an entire room effortlessly, wrapping everyone in that ocean-like atmosphere.

Try closing your eyes for a moment or keeping a soft gaze. There’s something about the sound of rain that feels relatable to most. It transports and has such a cleansing and nourishing quality, almost like watering something so it can grow, while washing away what is no longer needed.

This large rainstick has a 100% bamboo shell, with an interior designed to create the sounds of trickling water as it falls through. You can use it to mimic rain, a stream, or even a waterfall.
