When a pregnancy becomes high-risk, life can suddenly fill with uncertainty. Families are faced with new questions, difficult decisions, and concerns about what comes next.
At Penn Maternal-Fetal Medicine, located just steps from Shore Medical Center and our Level II NICU, families have access to nationally recognized maternal-fetal medicine specialists close to home. And when a pregnancy requires even more specialized treatment - including procedures before a baby is born - patients have seamless access to the most advanced fetal care in the region, while continuing much of their care locally.
Supporting patients through that journey is a dedicated team of physicians, nurses, sonographers, specialists, and patient access representatives. One of those team members is perinatology nurse Suki D., RN.
A member of the Shore team since 1998 and Penn Maternal-Fetal Medicine since 2014 (and 21 years ago, a Penn Maternal-Fetal Medicine patient herself), Suki loves getting to know her patients, answering their questions, and helping them feel supported during what can be a stressful and emotional time.
"Families can come here locally where we can take care of them, and often only need to travel for the most specialized services. That's a tremendous relief for families who are balancing work, caring for other children, and navigating a high-risk pregnancy." Suki says.
We're grateful for Suki and the entire Penn Maternal-Fetal Medicine team for the expertise, compassion, and support they provide to local families every day.
