What a fun day at Shore Medical Center! 🎉💜
On Friday, we welcomed 35 second graders from Saint Joseph Regional School for a behind-the-scenes look at their local hospital, and we may have had just as much fun as they did!
Through seven interactive stations, students followed the journey a patient might take through emergency care. They explored EMS equipment and a stretcher, learned about triage and checked vital signs, saw how blood draws are done (on a stuffed dolphin), discovered splinting for injuries, explored respiratory therapy and kid-friendly asthma treatments, and got an up-close look at X-rays. They also met two crowd favorites: Delilah, our newest therapy dog, and Fin the Dolphin, our friendly ambassador!
We loved helping these curious young learners better understand what happens at a hospital if they or someone they love ever needs care. There's no better way to learn than through hands-on experience! Thank you to our incredible team members and EMS partners for going all out on creating engaging and interesting stations. And, thanks to all the wonderful children, teachers and chaperones from Saint Josephs for making it a day to remember 💜
