For more than 30 years, Don Williams has been a familiar voice to South Jersey listeners, hosting the weekday morning show from 6–10 a.m. on News Talk 1400 and 92.3 WOND.

Recently, Don experienced severe stomach pain and excessive sweating while at work, prompting a trip by ambulance to Shore Medical Center's Emergency Department.

Don was impressed by the care he received from the moment he arrived. He recalled how quickly Dr. Grim and the emergency care team attended to him, performed diagnostic tests and helped put him at ease.

What stood out most was the team's professionalism, friendliness and ability to make him feel comfortable during a stressful situation.

"They do such a great job, and they're very professional, and yet, at the same time, making you feel welcome," Don shared.

Don was feeling well enough to return to work the very next morning, broadcasting from home for a couple of days. Reflecting on his experience at Shore, he added, "I hope I don't have to come again, but if I do, I know where it'll be!"

🎃 Every child deserves to enjoy Halloween traditions in a way that feels comfortable, safe and fun!

Our ER team was proud to participate in several sensory-friendly community events recently, including the Somers Point Police Department's Sensory-Friendly Trunk or Treat, Scullville Volunteer Fire Company's sensory-friendly hayride at Terror in the Junkyard, and Atlantic County Special Services School District's Trunk or Treat. We were also joined by our partners at Egg Harbor Township Emergency Medical Services and TriCare Medical Transportation!

These events help us connect with families, share Shore's sensory-friendly services and help children build positive associations with our hospital in a fun, welcoming setting.

A special thank-you to our community partners and our amazing Shore team, who brought so much heart and creativity to these events, including a Toy Story-themed display that was out of this world! 🚀

Sweet baby Aaliyah came into the world at Shore Medical Center late last night, and she’s already decorated her first fall pumpkin! 🎃💜

With a little help from NICU nurse Danielle, Aaliyah left her tiny footprints on a pumpkin this morning for her parents, Steven and Kiana, to treasure. She didn’t seem to mind her first little art project one bit!

Our NICU and Labor & Delivery nurses pour so much love into caring for Shore’s newest arrivals and their families. This is just one of the sweet seasonal traditions they create throughout the year to make these precious first moments even more special.

Welcome to the world, Aaliyah! 💜

Shore Medical Center is proud to honor longtime community leader and Board Chairman David Beyel at our A Cause to Celebrate Gala: "A Night in Paris" on November 6 at the Golden Nugget!

Dave, of Boulevard Super Liquors in Marmora, has dedicated nearly 40 years to helping Shore remain strong for our community.

Fellow Board member Rick Traa, who has served alongside Dave for more than three decades, knows that commitment well.

“He gives his time, he gives his talent, he gives his finances,” Rick said. “His goal has always been to see the hospital be the best possible hospital it can be.”

We kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month Sept. 30 by bringing together our staff, community partners, friends and supporters to honor those facing breast cancer, celebrate survivors and remind everyone of the importance of early detection.

What makes Shore feel different? For Emergency Department nurse Khai T., RN, it comes down to the people and the way they care.

At Shore, Khai says, the job doesn’t end when a patient’s immediate medical needs have been addressed. It means noticing when something doesn’t seem right, speaking up and working together to make sure each person has the support they need.

That culture is one of the reasons Khai loves Shore. He has experienced it as a nurse, as a family member placing his trust in his colleagues and as an employee who felt genuinely cared for during one of the most difficult times in his life.

Although this is Khai’s story, it reflects the compassion, teamwork and determination found throughout our Emergency Department - and our hospital.
