Another IntelliSep milestone: Baptist Medical Center East in Montgomery is now live.

This launch marks two firsts for Cytovale: our first IntelliSep site in Alabama and our first implementation with a Cerner EMR.

With IntelliSep now available, the Baptist East team has a new tool to support earlier risk stratification for emergency department patients with suspected infection, helping providers make more informed decisions when time matters.

Getting from contract to go-live takes close collaboration across laboratory, clinical, IT and operational teams, and we’re grateful to everyone at Baptist East and Cytovale who made this launch possible.

We’re excited to see the impact at Baptist East and build on this partnership across the system.

New in Medical Laboratory Observer: Alyssa Hutto, MHA, BSMT(ASCP), Director of Laboratory Services at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton, shares how her team redesigned its ED sepsis workflow around earlier host-response information.

In the first six months:
- 46% fewer sepsis alert activations among patients who were not ultimately septic
- 37% fewer ED blood cultures, while ordering remained stable among truly septic patients
- An estimated 43% relative reduction in ED blood culture contamination

The takeaway: when a diagnostic provides critical new information early, the workflow may need to change with it.

New clinical evidence presented at ADLM 2026.

Texas Health Resources presented three posters at this year’s meeting: two reporting six-month outcomes with IntelliSep, and one detailing how Texas Health Presbyterian Hosptial Denton (THDN) conducted its method validation in the lab. Together, they show how the implementation of IntelliSep helped THDN reduce alert fatigue and unnecessary testing while maintaining high-quality sepsis care:

• 46% fewer Code Sepsis alerts
• 37% fewer blood culture orders
• 43% fewer blood culture contaminations
