Sunshine may feel good—but after plastic surgery, your healing skin needs extra protection. ☀️

UV exposure can darken fresh scars, contribute to uneven pigmentation, and make healing incisions more noticeable. That is why patients may be advised to:

✅ Keep healing areas out of direct sunlight
✅ Cover incisions with protective clothing when possible
✅ Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen once approved
✅ Follow their surgeon’s specific recovery instructions

Every procedure and recovery is different. Dr. Kole provides each patient with personalized guidance to help protect their healing and long-term results.

𝗧𝘂𝗺𝗺𝘆 𝗧𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝘃𝘀. 𝗟𝗶𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝘀 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀?

"Do I need a tummy tuck, or can liposuction handle this?"

This might be the most common question Dr. Kole hears in his consultation room. And the honest answer is — it depends entirely on what's happening underneath the surface.

These two procedures get lumped together all the time, but they do very different things:

𝗟𝗶𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is a contouring procedure. It removes stubborn pockets of fat that won't respond to diet and exercise. It's ideal when your skin still has good elasticity and your abdominal muscles are intact. But it doesn't tighten loose skin — and in some cases, removing fat without addressing the skin can actually make the area look worse, not better.

A 𝘁𝘂𝗺𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝘂𝗰𝗸 is a more comprehensive procedure. It removes excess skin and fat, and — this is the part most people don't realize — it repairs separated abdominal muscles (a condition called diastasis recti that's extremely common after pregnancy). That persistent belly bulge that won't go away no matter how many crunches you do? That's often a structural issue, not a fitness issue. A tummy tuck brings those muscles back together.

For many patients, combining both procedures produces the best result — the tummy tuck handles the skin and muscles while liposuction refines the contour along the flanks and hips.

Recovery is the other big difference. Liposuction has most patients back to their routine within days. A tummy tuck is a bigger commitment — about two weeks before returning to desk work and six to eight weeks for full recovery. But the results are correspondingly more significant.

The right choice depends on your body, your goals, and what Dr. Kole sees during your exam. That's why the consultation matters.

Most people assume that if someone calls themselves a cosmetic surgeon, they've completed the same rigorous residency as a board-certified plastic surgeon. That's not always the case.

Before you trust anyone with a procedure, you deserve to know:

🔹 Where they trained and what they're actually board certified in
🔹 Whether they have hospital privileges for the procedure you're considering
🔹 How many times they've performed your specific surgery
🔹 Who handles your anesthesia — and their credentials
🔹 Whether they can show real patient results

Dr. Edward Kole welcomes every one of these questions. Board-certified with decades of specialized plastic surgery experience, he's built his practice in Southampton, PA on transparency and patient education.

No question is too small. Read the full guide here → https://www.koleplasticsurgery.com/how-do-i-choose-a-qualified-plastic-surgeon/

If you're researching plastic surgeons right now, here's something important that most people don't realize.

"Board certified" is not a single standard. There are many certifying boards in medicine, and they don't all require the same training, the same exams, or the same experience. When a surgeon says they're board certified, the follow-up question should always be: certified by which board, and in what specialty?

I'm double board certified, holding certifications in both general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery. That dual training gives me a foundation that goes well beyond cosmetic procedures. It means I understand the body structurally and functionally, I'm prepared for complex reconstructive cases, and I take surgical safety seriously at every step.

I'm sharing this not to impress you, but because I genuinely believe patients deserve to understand what they're looking for when they choose a surgeon. Credentials matter. Training matters. Ask the question.

If you'd like to schedule a consultation with a double board certified plastic surgeon serving Bucks County and the greater Philadelphia area, we'd love to hear from you.

Everybody has a "finally" moment.

For some people it was seeing a photo from a family event. For some it was a birthday that felt like a deadline. For some it was hearing a friend talk about their experience and realizing it wasn't as scary as they thought.

And for a lot of people, it was just being tired of thinking about it without doing anything about it.

If you've had a consultation or procedure at Kole Plastic Surgery Center, we'd love to hear your story. What was the thing that made you finally pick up the phone?

Your answer might be exactly what someone else needs to hear today.

And if you're still in the "thinking about it" stage — that's okay. Read through the comments. Sometimes the push comes from someone who was exactly where you are right now.

A question I hear all the time: "Am I even ready to call a plastic surgeon?"

My answer is almost always yes. The consultation isn't a commitment. It's a conversation. I'm not there to pressure you into anything. I'm there to listen, answer your questions honestly, and help you understand what options make sense for your body and your goals.

Some patients come in expecting one procedure and we decide together that something different, or nothing at the moment, is the right move. That's exactly how it should work.
If you've been on the fence about making that first call, I hope this helps. There's no pressure and no obligation. Just an honest conversation with a double board certified plastic surgeon who's been doing this for over 25 years.

𝗕𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘅 𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿—which one do you actually need?

It's one of the most common questions patients ask, and the answer depends on what you're trying to improve.

𝗕𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘅® works by 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘹𝘪𝘯𝘨 the muscles that create expression lines, making it ideal for forehead wrinkles, frown lines, and crow's feet.

𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 restore 𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘦 that's been lost over time. They can enhance the cheeks, lips, jawline, and soften deeper facial folds for a refreshed, natural appearance.

The important thing to remember is that these treatments aren't competitors—they're different tools designed to address different concerns. In some cases, patients benefit from one treatment, while others achieve the best results with a customized combination of both.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 "𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹-𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴" 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻?

Many people considering plastic surgery share the same concern: they want to look refreshed—not like a completely different person.

That's the philosophy behind every procedure at Dr. Kole Plastic Surgery Center.

Rather than chasing dramatic transformations, Dr. Kole creates personalized treatment plans that respect each patient's unique anatomy, balance, and proportions. The goal is to enhance your natural features while helping you maintain the look that makes you uniquely you.

The best cosmetic surgery often goes unnoticed—not because it isn't effective, but because the results look authentic.

If you're considering plastic surgery and have questions about achieving natural-looking results, schedule a complimentary consultation. Dr. Kole will take the time to discuss your goals, answer your questions, and recommend the approach that's right for you.
