Movember isn't about the mustache.
It's about the appointments men keep skipping.

Here's what gets ignored: men are far less likely to see a doctor, and the stuff that quietly erodes after 40, energy, strength, mood, drive, metabolic health, rarely gets checked until it's loud. "Optimized" isn't a buzzword. It means a real workup: free testosterone, SHBG, metabolic markers, and an honest conversation about how you actually feel.

This Movember, Dr. Travis Hudon is the guy to bring the awkward questions to. Testosterone and men's health evaluation at Pinnacle Wellness in Spokane, in person or by telehealth across Washington and Idaho.

Tag a guy who's overdue. Book through the link in bio.

The FDA changed the label on estrogen, and most women still have not heard.

For the right woman, this is life changing. Sleep that holds. Bones that keep their density. A brain that finds the word. Intimacy that does not hurt. Years of feeling like yourself instead of waiting it out.

In November 2025 the FDA began removing the boxed warnings about cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, and probable dementia from menopausal hormone therapy products. The agency described those warnings as resting on outdated interpretation of the Women's Health Initiative, a study in older women using older formulations. The boxed warning about endometrial cancer stays on systemic estrogen-alone products, because that risk is real and it is why women with a uterus get a progestogen alongside estrogen.

What this does not mean: that hormone therapy is right for everyone, or risk free. Your personal and family history, your age, and how long ago you went through menopause all change the calculation. Dr. Templin works from Menopause Society guidance and screens for contraindications before she writes anything, and some women leave her office without a prescription.

What it does mean: the conversation you were shut out of in 2004 is open again, and it takes a full hour with a physician who reads this literature.

Dr. Claire Templin, Menopause Society certified Ob-Gyn, at Pinnacle Wellness in Spokane, and by telehealth in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon.

This is what direct care looks like once you take the middleman out.

Insurance stands in the way of us giving you the best, most up to date care. It decides how long your visit is, which labs are allowed, which medication you may try first, and how long you wait for an answer. None of those are medical decisions.

Direct care is a cash-based medical model. You have the freedom to pursue your own individualized wellness, rather than the one-size-fits-all nine minutes you get inside a hospital system. No claims, no prior authorization, no surprise bill three months later. You know the price before you agree to anything.

What that buys in practice: a full hour to start, unlimited visits and unlimited messaging with your physician, and a plan built around your body instead of a protocol built around billing codes.

Dr. Claire Templin handles perimenopause and menopause care, by telehealth across Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. She has openings this month.

Book and pay for the menopause evaluation by October 31 and your first month of membership is included.

Know your real cardiovascular risk, not the version a basic panel shows you.

Our cardiometabolic risk assessment reads the markers most physicals skip: ApoB, Lp(a), hs-CRP, fasting insulin, and more, in one blood draw. Caught early, a lot of this is addressable.

Brain fog in your 40s and 50s is real, and it's not just in your head.

The menopause transition is when many women first notice changes in focus and memory, and hormones are part of that story. Optimizing them isn't a magic fix, but it's a piece of the picture that too often gets ignored. This reel covers the connection between hormones and cognitive health.

This is exactly the kind of thing Dr. Templin evaluates at Pinnacle Wellness in Spokane, with telehealth in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon.

You were told to ride out menopause. Nobody told you how long the ride is.

The median is 7.4 years. That is the total duration of frequent hot flashes and night sweats in the SWAN study, published in JAMA Internal Medicine in 2015. Median means half of women had them longer. Symptoms continued a median of 4.5 years after the final period, and the women whose symptoms started early, while still cycling, had the longest course of all, beyond a decade.

So when a woman in her mid 40s is told to wait it out, she is being asked to hand over a decade of sleep, focus, and patience with her family. Sometimes without being told there was a choice.

Some women feel genuinely fine and need nothing. That is a real answer and I give it often. The problem is never being offered the options.

In an hour, I will put them all in front of you. Hormone therapy, non-hormonal treatment, or watchful waiting that you chose instead of got assigned.

The first dose of hormone therapy is rarely the right dose. Women are not warned about that, so when they still feel off at week three they assume the problem is them.

The problem is a system that gave them one appointment and then went quiet for four months.

What that looks like in practice: a woman starts hormone therapy, sleeps better within two weeks, and then the patch irritates her skin. In traditional care she waits until her next available slot, which might be March, or she stops on her own and decides hormones did not work for her. With us she texts Dr. Templin, gets a different delivery method, and keeps going.

That is what unlimited visits and unlimited messaging buy. Hormone care takes iteration, so we iterate.

Hormone care runs through our Pinnacle Plus membership at $199 a month, which also includes ongoing reassessment, prescription management, a personalized fitness and nutrition plan, and 10 percent off labs, supplements, and skincare. Labs are billed separately at your member discount.

Hormones aren't the problem. For a lot of women, they're part of the solution.

Appropriately prescribed hormone therapy is associated with real benefits for the symptoms that get dismissed, and for longer-term bone and heart health, a very different picture than the headlines of 2002 painted. The decision is individual, and it belongs with a physician who reads your history and your labs.

Early detection isn’t fear. It’s leverage.

Screening isn’t about expecting something to be wrong. It’s about giving yourself more information, earlier, when there may be more options for what comes next.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, mammograms remain an important part of recommended breast cancer screening. Tests like Galleri can complement—not replace—recommended screenings by looking for a signal associated with 50+ types of cancer, including cancers that don’t currently have routine screening options.

At Pinnacle Wellness, we believe in thoughtful screening, not fear-based testing. We’ll help you understand what makes sense for you, what each test can and can’t tell us, and what the next step looks like.

We offer the Galleri test at Pinnacle Wellness in Spokane, with pre- and post-test consultation. Telehealth across Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

Educational content, not a diagnostic guarantee. Screening tests have limitations we’ll review with you.

World Menopause Day was yesterday, so I am posting the list I wish every woman had a decade earlier.

Hot flashes get all the attention. These are the symptoms that send women to four different specialists instead. Waking at 3 a.m. and staring at the ceiling. Anxiety that arrived out of nowhere. A short fuse. Aching joints. Shoulder pain. Palpitations. Migraines that changed their pattern. Brain fog. Dryness, pain with s*x, and urinary tract infections that keep coming back.

Estrogen receptors sit in your brain, blood vessels, bone, joints, bladder, and vaginal tissue. When estrogen swings, all of those tissues get a vote. Every symptom above is recognized in the menopause literature, which is why the list looks scattered only until somebody connects it.

Women come in apologizing for how scattered it sounds. It does not sound scattered to me. I have seen this pattern hundreds of times, and connecting it is the work I trained and certified for.

One hour with me, at Pinnacle Wellness in Spokane, or by telehealth in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon.

Which one on this list surprised you?
