Some losses are difficult to explain because there isn’t always something tangible to point to.

You might be grieving a timeline that didn’t happen.

A version of your family you imagined.
A future you spent years picturing.

There may not be a clear moment when that grief began, and there may not be a clear moment when it ends. That doesn’t make it less real.

Grief can exist alongside hope, love, gratitude, and uncertainty.

Fertility treatment has a medical side.
But there are also the parts that happen between appointments.
Remembering dates.Waiting for results.Planning around procedures.Researching every possibility.Making decisions without knowing what comes next.
And somehow, you’re still expected to go to work, answer texts, make dinner, maintain relationships, and be a person outside of treatment.
It’s understandable if it sometimes feels like fertility treatment has taken up more space in your life than you expected.

The emotional weight of the process is real, too.

Self-care doesn’t always look like doing more.
Sometimes it looks like slowing down, asking for help, or giving yourself a little less to carry.

Take a moment to consider what you actually need today, not what you think you should need.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t knowing what you’re feeling. It’s figuring out how to be around everyone else’s experiences while you’re carrying your own.

Pregnancy announcements. Baby showers. Family questions. Casual conversations about children.

You can genuinely be happy for someone and still feel sadness for yourself.

You can love someone and need some distance from their news.

You can want to celebrate them and also need a moment to process your own feelings.

None of that makes you bitter or unsupportive. It makes you human.

Anxiety often tells us that we’ll feel better once we have an answer.

Once we know what will happen.
Once we’ve made the right decision.
Once we’ve checked one more time.
Once we’ve figured out every possible “what if?”

But certainty isn’t always available. And trying to get rid of every bit of uncertainty can sometimes make it take up even more space.

The goal isn’t to convince yourself that everything will be okay. Sometimes it’s learning that you can move forward without knowing exactly how everything will turn out.

Sometimes we assume that if we were more confident, more decisive, or more certain, we’d know exactly what to do.

But some decisions are hard because more than one thing matters. There may not be a perfect choice.

There may simply be a choice that requires you to navigate uncertainty, competing values, and emotions that don’t always point in the same direction.

You don’t have to rush yourself into certainty just because uncertainty feels uncomfortable.

There are so many unspoken rules about how we're "supposed" to feel, think, or move through difficult experiences.

But the truth is, being a human is far more complex than that.

At Reflect to Grow Counseling, we make room for questions, uncertainty, changing your mind, and emotions that don’t always make sense. Therapy isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about creating space to better understand yourself with curiosity and self-compassion.

If you’re looking for a space where you don’t have to have everything figured out, I’d love to connect with you.

Uncertainty has a way of making us look around and wonder if we're handling it "the right way."

Maybe someone else seems calm while you feel overwhelmed. Maybe someone wants to talk about it constantly, while you need quiet space to process.

Neither response is inherently right or wrong. We're shaped by our experiences, our relationships, and the ways we've learned to cope over time. It makes sense that uncertainty would affect each of us differently. 🤍
