Everyone, meet Charles! When Charles was eight years old, he was bitten by a snake and sadly had to have his leg amputated. He has since outgrown his prosthetic, making the long walk to school impossible. Millie has taken Charles to Nairobi to be fitted for a new prosthetic, and this is a life-changing need. With your help, Charles can return to school, keep learning, and regain mobility. Please partner with us in getting Charles back to class. Click the donate button or visit www.heartsthathear.org to give toward his medical needs.

Navasha and Darling Haga have recently lost their sponsorships and are now in urgent need of new sponsors.

These two sisters are both bilaterally Deaf and are thriving at school. Today, they are wonderful dancers, active participants in theater, and love playing sports such as soccer and netball. They are kind, joyful girls who work hard academically and are making the most of every opportunity education provides.

Their story, however, did not begin this way. Because of social stigma surrounding disability and tribal beliefs about Deafness, Navasha and Darling spent their early years being taken from place to place for prayers in hopes that they would be healed. As a result, they missed out on crucial early educational opportunities.

When they finally came to school, they were behind their peers academically. But through determination, support, and access to education in a language they could understand, these girls have worked incredibly hard to catch up. Today, they are succeeding in the classroom and fully participating in school life.

A sponsor for either girl—or both sisters—would help ensure they can continue receiving the education, support, and opportunities they deserve. Their progress is a beautiful reminder of what can happen when Deaf children are given access to education and the chance to reach their full potential.

We would love to see Navasha and Darling matched with sponsors who will walk alongside them as they continue to grow and succeed.

We’ll be sharing more of our students who are waiting for sponsorship throughout the week. Please help us spread the word and consider becoming part of a child’s story today. www.heartsthathear.org

We are honored to introduce two new students at B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf who are in need of sponsorship support.

Oprah Winfrey is a kind and determined young girl who is bilaterally deaf. Before joining B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf, she attended a mainstream school where there was limited support for students with hearing disabilities. Because she did not have access to sign language instruction, specialized teaching, or communication support, she faced significant barriers in her learning journey. Although she had reached Grade 3, she was still working toward foundational literacy and numeracy skills. Since joining our school, Oprah has begun receiving the individualized support and inclusive education she deserves.

Morenza Hope experienced hearing loss after early childhood and previously attended a mainstream school without the accommodations or specialized resources needed to fully support her education. Despite these challenges, Morenza has shown remarkable resilience, determination, and talent. She is an outstanding athlete who proudly represented the school at the county level.

At B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf, sponsorship provides far more than school fees. It gives students access to education, nutritious meals, communication support, a safe and nurturing environment, and the opportunity to build confidence and independence for the future.

We invite you to consider sponsoring Morenza, Oprah, or one of the many incredible students featured on our website. www.heartsthathear.org

After a month-long break, our students are finally back in school and ready to learn!

Please take a moment to visit our website: www.heartsthathear.org We have so many students waiting for sponsorship, and you can make a life-changing difference. Many of our students have been waiting more than THREE years for a sponsor! A sponsor is more than financial support. To these children, it means knowing someone believes in them. Please consider sponsoring a child or sharing this post to help us reach others who may want to make a difference.

While our primary focus is supporting Deaf children, B.L. Tezza School for the Deaf is also home to a social needs classroom that serves children on the autism spectrum—children who would otherwise have nowhere to go.

In the region we serve, there are no designated schools for children with autism. Many are left at home without access to education. Others face neglect, abuse, and in some heartbreaking cases, even lose their lives simply because of their disability.

We believe every child deserves more—an education, a safe environment, and the opportunity to be seen, valued, and supported.

This month, in recognition of Autism Awareness Month, we invite you to stand with us. Please help us share this mission with your friends and families and be part of creating a safer, more inclusive future for these children.
