When Katelyn Daniel was diagnosed with stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer at 24, she came to Texas Oncology and Matei Socoteanu, M.D. Two years later, she's cancer-free, a registered nurse, and expecting her first child. đź’—

We're proud to have been part of her care, and grateful she shared her story with . ⬇️

Some friendships are made for life's hardest moments. đź’—

Meet Tonia. She, Angela, and Andi started out as neighbors and became best friends, balancing careers and raising kids close in age. When all three were diagnosed with breast cancer within a few years of one another, that friendship became their lifeline.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we're sharing each of their stories. This week, it's Tonia's turn. Watch her video to hear how she found strength in the women who understood exactly what she was facing.

Their message to every woman: schedule your mammogram and do your monthly self-exam.

October is known for pink, but today we're also wearing teal and green for the roughly 170,000 people across the U.S. living with metastatic breast cancer.

Metastatic (stage IV) breast cancer happens when breast cancer spreads beyond the breast to places like the bones, lungs, liver or brain. It can come back years after someone finishes treatment, and for a small number of people, it's there at first diagnosis.

Thanks to research and new treatments, many people are living longer and fuller lives with mBC. At Texas Oncology, our physicians and care teams are committed to helping every patient with metastatic breast cancer live well, close to home.

If you've been treated for breast cancer, keep your follow-up visits and tell your doctor about any new or lasting symptoms.

Here's a Texas "first" we'd rather not have: our state has the highest liver cancer rates in the nation.

Here's what you need to know. 👇

🧡 Who's at higher risk? People with hepatitis B or C, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, heavy alcohol use, or a history of smoking.

🧡 The hepatitis link: Hepatitis can damage your liver for years without any symptoms. Over time, that damage can lead to liver cancer. The good news is that a simple blood test can check for it, a vaccine protects against hepatitis B, and hepatitis C is treatable.

🧡 Why screening matters: Early liver cancer usually doesn't cause symptoms. If you're at higher risk, regular screening can help find it sooner, when there may be more treatment options.

Your liver works hard for you every day. Take a minute to ask your doctor about hepatitis testing and your liver cancer risk.

Know someone who should see this? Share it with them.

Yesterday, 7,000+ attendees from across the state gathered at Austin's Moody Center for the 27th Texas Conference for Women a day full of inspiration, connection, and big ideas. đź’—

For patients in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas Oncology–McAllen West is about much more than a new building. It's about shortening the distance between a cancer diagnosis and the care that follows.

This week, we celebrated the grand opening of our second McAllen practice alongside physicians, staff, elected officials, and community partners. With a PET scanner, full clinical lab, 15 exam rooms, and 20 infusion chairs, patients can now be diagnosed, scanned, and begin treatment, all close to home.

As Guillermo Lazo, M.D., Area Medical Director, shared: "This building gives us capacity. What we do with it is the real work."

A esta comunidad, a este Valle: esto es para ustedes. đź’™

Congratulations to the entire McAllen West team!
