When your thoughts are racing, focusing on what’s happening right now can feel difficult.
The 5-4-3-2-1 grounding exercise is a simple way to use your senses to gently redirect your attention to the present moment:
5 things you can see
4 things you can touch
3 things you can hear
2 things you can smell
1 thing you can taste
Grounding exercises can be useful tools for slowing down, reconnecting with your surroundings, and creating a moment to reset.
And sometimes, you may need more than a moment.
If stress, difficult emotions, or other mental health challenges are affecting your daily life, you don’t have to navigate them alone. K Hawk Solutions’ Outpatient Mental Health Clinic provides compassionate, culturally responsive support for children, youth, adults, and families.
